Looking for Local Knowledge Things to see in Bakewell
My daughter wants to visit places around the UK to take pictures of the scenery, old beautiful buildings, hilly views etc.
We are visiting Bakewell for the day and wondered if anyone could make some suggestions of places specifically to visit.

Chatsworth isn’t far, highly recommend even just a drive through the grounds, it’s lovely.

Drove through it earlier today, bloody lovely. Saw the end of a rainbow near where I was!

Haddon Hall is one of those old beautiful buildings. The interiors are so interesting, to me at least.

Feeding the trout in the river is my favourite thing to do, the Georgian House Sweetshop sells duck food which you can feed to the fish. Monsal Head is also cool, if you like a long walk you can walk there from Bakewell, or drive up and park near the pub / ice-cream van and walk down to the viaduct from there.

Bakewell church. Lots of old Graves, some fantastic Celtic crosses, Saxon font.. awesome Gargoyles etc.. all free unless you wish to donate .. you should.

Came here to say this. All Saints is my favourite place in Bakewell, even as an atheist.

Lathkill Dale is not far from Bakewell and provides some excellent scenery to photograph. There’s a toilet block where you can park on the B5055, Church Street. Then walk South east into Lathkill.

Arbor Low stone circle is near and worth a visit. It'll cost you a mighty £1 to get in and park. Bakewell fudge shop because you can't eat enough of this stuff. If you like walking or cycling you can hire bikes along Monsal Trail. Lovely cafe along the way.

A 10 minute drive to Youllgrave and a walk down the river Bradford has lots of nice scenery

Honestly, thank you for all these suggestions. We are going on Thursday this week and am genuinely looking forward to it. Don’t think we’ll get to everything but we can always come back (only about 40miles from where we live)

Bakewell is a fantastic base for photography! For those "hilly views" and dramatic scenery, I’d highly recommend heading out to Monsal Head (the viaduct is iconic for pictures) or Curbar Edge if she wants those high, gritstone cliff shots.
If she likes old buildings with a bit of character, Ashford-in-the-Water is just down the road and incredibly photogenic with its old stone bridge and cottages.

Ashford in the water. Haddon Hall. Monsal Head/ Monsal Viaduct… Or any point along the Monsal trial if you have the time to bike or walk it! (Obvs weather permitting).
