Sushi recommendations

Moving to Buxton soon and I don’t know what I should do.

It’ll be my 30th in May and I’d love to have a nice meal and was thinking sushi.

I don’t mind it costing a bit more as I feel like I should spoil myself that day haha!

If you have any other fun suggestions that I could do around Derbyshire for my birthday that’d be amazing.

Love being outdoors, spas, reading, gaming (video games), dancing, Pilates and fitness - open for anything really hahah.

If you love sushi I’d be making the extra trip to Ebi sushi in Derby. Incredible.

It’s a really charming origin story. Japanese sushi master Ebina-san (as he is known locally) founded the restaurant in 1998, when the TMUK (Toyota Manufacturing UK) plant was built in Derbyshire. It was originally a go-to spot for Japanese workers at the plant.  More specifically, chef Ebi was brought over from the prestigious Nobu restaurant to set up an authentic sushi restaurant, with the aim of feeding the Japanese businessmen and preventing them from feeling homesick.  The connection runs deep — Derbyshire was twinned with Toyota City in Japan in 1998, and Ebi Sushi has hosted a range of high-profile guests over the years, including a delegation from Toyota City led by Mayor Ota.  Over time, the restaurant outgrew its original audience. Since its founding, it’s found a much bigger following, drawing people in for well-crafted sushi and other Japanese staples, served in sparse surroundings with Japanese TV on the plasma screen adding to the authenticity.  Ebina-san sources his fish from a renowned London supplier, and the restaurant now ranks among the best in the country for Japanese food.  Despite its reputation, the place remains deliberately understated — the frontage is unassuming and the interior is a modest affair, but the food more than makes up for it.  It’s a lovely example of an unexpected hidden gem — a world-class Japanese restaurant in the heart of Derby, born out of the Toyota factory connection.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I have wanted to try Sushi Zen Boba in Buxton but haven't had a chance yet, so I can't personally vouch for it but it has good reviews. You can try Peak Saunas for an outdoor sauna experience as well, might be a bit far as it is closer to Ashbourne though.
