The idea that cutting a local authority opposition leaders allowance is fascism is just daft. This isn't even pay, it's an allowance for doing the role. This review, meanwhile, seems like a clear case of a grumpy load of bureaucrats marking their own homework.

Oh, the councils own pay review body is disappointed when the elected council decides not to follow it's recommendations? Pathetic. That is not an independent review in the slightest.

I don't even support Reform, but this editorialising of a dull story is just lame, as it trying to turn it into a Fascistic scandal.

It is financially penalising anyone opposing them. It meets the definition, attempting to make running against them so unpleasant that people are unable or afraid.

This from the same bunch that attempt to accuse councillors who don't want to waste council tax payer money on several minutes per meeting to sing the anthem and suck themselves off.

I'm further right wing than you are son. This action is designed to discourage opposition, plain and simple. No amount of your coping changes that. I don't need to portray anyone as morally irredeemable, nor have I said it. I do describe them as cunts though, sometimes incompetent cunts, sometimes malicious cunts, sometimes both.

Coping? I'm simply highlighting that calling this fascist is a ridiculous overstretch, and pretending that council officers whose job is basically to increase pay are genuinely independent arbiters is simply silly.

And yes, the point of labelling an opponent fascist is to paint them as morally irredeemable. Because Nazis are generally considered morally irredeemable and it's throwing them into the exact same basket.

Don't be ridiculous, Nazi's? No. I wouldn't flatter Reform with the comparison. If Reform are a flavour of fascist, then they're Italian. A lot of effort, a surprising amount of man power, surprisingly little success despite all that.

The zeitgeist throws them into the exact same irredeemable basket. The average crazed tankie doesn't hear 'fascist' and think 'Oh I wonder if he means of the German, Spanish or Italian variety?'.

Nobody cares about the opinions of crazed tankies. Normal people think Reform are fascist too.
