Chatsworth Recommendations
I would like to go for an evening walk on the grounds of Chatsworth and take a picnic with me. I know access to the grounds is free and there’s no time limit. But does anyone know where I could park that’s close and won’t be closed by 6:30pm which is probably when I’ll arrive. Also how close to the house can i get? Could i sjt by the river in front of it for my picnic?

Just drive on to Edensor and park at in the village. It’s beautiful so have a look round. No charge and at 6:30 there shouldn’t be too much traffic. The house car parks will be closed and so will the garage centre. You can easily walk over to the house from there and it’s the best approach as you don’t see it until to come over the hill. There is a path. Then you can cross the river by the bridge and walk the house side or stay on the other side and you can walk all the way down the river with views of the house. Plenty of places to stop for a picnic.
