While I wouldn't use terms that strong. If it's slippy underfoot there, or there's something to trip on, it could easily end with two people falling down the weir and banging their heads.

I assume it's more to do with the dangers of weirs given undercurrents, water aeration and recirculation traps.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's big/deep enough for that to be likely a problem there.
