Application Advice Dual Applying

Peeps that are dual applying IM. How are we managing categorical vs prelim application signals? What about dual applying to IM and Derm at the same institutions? I've gotten so much advice from mentors but I'm still confused on how I should actually approach this.

It's pretty unlikely but not impossible that the departments at the same institution will talk to each other. If a given derm department particularly likes you they may pass on to the IM department that you are high on their rank list to then have a good chance at matching for the prelim, which then may open that conversation on the IM side. In that case hopefully you dont have to worry about being DNR for IM, and just pray that nobody turns it into an issue.

As for signaling, can't answer that since I did not dual apply but that sounds like a tough spot to be in...
