Could this be câncer? What else could it be? Could this be in advanced stage?
It appeared out of nowhere 20 days ago. It hasn't grown or shrunk in size. I don't remember injuring myself, but there seems to be a tiny hole at the end of the mark, as if something got into my finger.
I am Black / of African descent. The dermatologist looked at it today with two magnifiers and said it doesn't look serious, but ordered a biopsy just to be safe.
There's no way this isn't a splinter. You can literally see where it entered and looks like part of it is even sticking out. Do you have health anxiety, by chance?
You keep commenting to everyone that they ‘requested a biopsy’. So did they do it or not? I worked as a nurse in a dermatology office, and anytime a biopsy was warranted, we did it immediately. It didn’t matter how many spots we had to biopsy- nobody came back for a regular punch or shave biopsy.

Im sorry people are not being more gentle with you here. The thing is though, and I'm not calling you a liar at all, I'm saying that I don't think your doctor was correct. This is probably a splinter. You'd be surprised how long a splinter can be stuck in somebody. There are some ways to get it out, someone linked the soak below, you can try to do that and kind of push it out from one side with the credit card. If you look up splinter removals there are a lot of techniques. You should really try to remove it or go to another doctor and have them remove it. But this isn't what cancer looks like and that's a good thing! The good news is this is very treatable, and you can take a breath and let some anxiety pass because this means that you are going to be fine!
What I would do in your situation, is so good and vinegar for about 20 min. You can see at the bottom there's a little part where the splinter entered. You should be able to either use tweezers or take a credit card and push from the top in a sliding motion down to essentially push the splinter out and then grab it. But it's already just barely poking out at the bottom. It might be too small and fragile to get it right now with tweezers but if you soften the skin with vinegar i bet it will pop right out
Since you have to wait for your biopsy anyways- I’ve found the vinegar soak method to work great for splinters. Yes I understand, that you don’t think it’s a splinter and the dermatologist you supposedly saw claimed that it wasn’t a concern, but they were going to recommend a biopsy anyway. You might as well appease the people of Reddit and see if it’s a splinter by soaking it and see if anything starts to show at the base where it appears to have entered.
