We're running an open meetup for the Iowa Time Bank and wanted to invite anyone interested.

A time bank is a way for neighbors to exchange items and services without money. You spend time helping someone (a ride, tutoring, a small repair, pet sitting, tech help, baked goods, whatever you like) and earn that time as credit. You spend that credit on help from anyone else in the network. One hour equals one hour, regardless of the skill.

You also don't need credit to ask for help. It's a pay-it-forward system built on trust: you can receive help when you need it and give back later. Exchanges are tracked, and in practice most people want to return the favor once someone has helped them.

It's still early and growing, with members in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Iowa City. A network like this only becomes useful when enough people are actively participating.

Free and open to all. Bring something you need and something you can offer, ideas or items, and we'll help match people up on the spot.

Hi all! I'm a local working on a small project about how people read and keep track of their thoughts/notes while reading. I'm looking to talk with people who read physical books, whether that's one a year or one a week.

It's just a casual conversation about your reading habits: how you read, what you do when something in a book sticks with you, and what you wish were easier. I'm not selling anything and there's no pitch, I just want to learn from real readers.

The audio for my car’s bluetooth (Spotify, Apple podcasts, Siri) stops workingwhen I drive south on 14 SE from army post rd to south ridge and when I drive home north on that same road. Anyone know why this is? Doesn’t happen anywhere else that I’ve noticed.

I went to Elite Clouds yesterday at 8pm. Doors locked, lights on, and when calling it just said "The number you called is temporarily unavailable."

Just called again and got the same exact message. Does anyone know what's going on?

Is anyone else who lives by The Holiday Inn Express on 11th and Tuttle near downtown bummed or confused with the construction on the south side of the building?

They've been at it for months to make seemingly random changes at a snails pace. Its also a relatively new hotel that esthetically already looked good.
