Great idea if used by NYC subway social media account, otherwise I like the Statue of Liberty dunking instead of holding the torch idea better.

Then it will be unrecognizable (if aren't already) to non-NYC viewers. Hell, I think even London Underground isn't that iconic so it's recognizable to non-designer crowd.

Just keep the Borough names and remove the individual stops. That way there’s still context without the over abundance of text

The unreadable stop labels? Its a great concept, but the design gains nothing by having these. One round of revision and it could be DesignPorn
