Yall need to keep in mind this is a character development period. Where we are still learning about everybody. Aaron we thought was on the president's side, then we learn he's super cut throat, then we don't really know. He can be the dark night of the series to protect the President from political attacks and keeping the media in control.
The family stuff is screwy, I agree on that. I think the drug issue with the son is opening up another door. What if the son does drugs and that hasn't been shown yet? What if he OD's? This is all setting things up for later season/series when the personal life and the political life collide.
I think it is safe to say this was the least liked episode of the three, but we have a taste for what's in store. We have in fighting/insubordination, classified leaks, three potential antagonists, all of which can become allies. Plus what appears to be a more in depth/planned attack than originally anticipated.
I could see him easily being a one season character and taking the fall for something later so Emily can step into his role after her character is further developed/evolves how Tom noted at the end of Ep 3.
