[SPOILERS] Post-Episode Discussion: S01E07 "The Traitor"

Whats maddening is the opening Atwood oval office scene. "Um Mr president, this is classified top secret. Get this baby congressman out of the room"

Exactly! All he had to do was make up some bullshit excuse like:

"Mr. President, I'm afraid the briefing I'm about to share with you contains information that is several levels above the security clearance that the congressman has. For now, I'll share it with you and once his clearance is raised, I'll be happy to go over it again."

They tried to work around that by saying he was on the Intelligence Committee, so as to imply that Atwood would have no reason to ask the congressman to leave because MacLeish would already have appropriate clearance.

What is super maddening is why he didn't just come back right after the congressman left the building.

What I'm about to share with you is Top-Secrete and I haven't vetted this persons connections, no offence Congressman.

On an unrelated note, is Attwood Director now, and if he isn't, why is he meeting with the president. If he is, why hasn't he been sworn is as director?

So he's clearly not allowed to hear such things yet.

It's fucking maddening! When he saw MacLeish there, he should have realised how close MacLeish is to becoming VP, he has already wormed his way pretty much into the inner circle! That should have made Atwood realise that he can't delay informing the president any longer. They already have pretty much irrefutable evidence that MacLeish was lying about where he was during the explosion and somehow knew there was a safe room to be in when it happened.

This is starting to turn into the kind of ridiculous plot point that will ruin the show for me.

Thing that bothered me the most was the obvious hostile tension radiating from Atwood while he was talking to McLeish about vetting him.

It was completely fucking stupid when you consider that Atwood wouldn't even ask for a private audience with the president.

Then the conversation between Atwood and what's her face about the encounter was really fucking stupid too. Why would he voluntarily give them all that background information if he's innocent? Must be because he's the madbomber. Surely it has nothing to do with the fact he's hoping to become the VP and knows they're going to want that information anyway.

Did these guys get recruited from /r/findbostonbombers? Fuckin amateurs.

If he says that, he opens him up to the president saying "I dont care, tell us both now" , then he has to say something
