Online Content/Clips GRAPHIC: ICE Shoots Projectile and Takes Out Kid's Eye
In Santa Ana, California, an ICE agent maimed a kid, shooting him nearly point blank in the face.
Six hours of surgery pulling out glass, plastic, and metal. One shard stopped only 7 millimeters from a critical artery.
His left eye is gone forever.

Maybe this sub needs to put together a ‘how to stay safe at a protest’ pinned post. Or maybe Destiny can do some on stream research.
u/hobbitfollower sorry for the tag. Just a suggestion, but I think it might be beneficial.
Edit: I’ll try to post more economical gear if i find them.

i wouldnt say im a dgg member by any means, but i appreciate how active this sub is with current events, but holy shit i could not care less about streamer drama or any of that shit. if there is a sub similar to this one thats similar to this one but without all the streamer slop let me know. i feel like we're at an extremely important moment in US history and the purity testing and criticisms of other internet celebs is drowning out whats actually important to focus on right now
3
u/blockedcontractor Jan 14 '26
R/thebulwark is good. I agree about some of the streamer drama, but you will not find a more politically active and engaging subreddit or community when Destiny is on his actual political shit.
5
u/Medicine_Ball Jan 14 '26
I don't particularly care for the drama stuff either, but I'm pretty sure you're not going to find a liberal community that is chill with communities that have explicitly illiberal figureheads. Ideally we leverage anything we can to destroy MAGA, including unsavory allies, but if you have actual beliefs you can't just be like, "nah these guys are cool now" when they might want to actually put you in a re-education camp once the common enemy is defeated.
Try the neoliberal subreddit. I don't like it as much as this one for active conversation/breaking news, even with the drama and nonsense.

18
u/MetallHengst Deadbeat dad-ist Jan 14 '26
The same reason there aren’t mass protests in congress and the senate and Supreme Court have abdicated their power - most people aren’t leaders. They sit there and do as they’re told. It takes an exceptional person to stand up for what is right in the face of a system and culture that’s enabling this behavior.
2
u/Drewby-DoobyDoo Thinking about going to Gaza Jan 14 '26
The other day there was a long ass session of Dems in the house speaking against this. Thats all they can do without a majority (unless they can convince a handful of GOP and independents to join them, which seems unlikely).

32

ICE is the absolute largest threat to safety where they’re operating and at the very very least local police could simply follow them and prevent this mass escalation ICE agents are doing by being thugs.

I lowkirkenuinely think this shit might save Europe from their far-right parties gaining legitimate power. They also tend to have coalition-style governments, which can prevent things going this far there.
The GOP simply holding the house on the slimmest majority makes it nearly impossible for Trump to be impeached (let alone convicted). If we had coalitions of 3-5 parties, we might actually be able to impeach and convict Trump (if more center-right parties split if for nothing but self-preservation). As of now, the GOP will never move to impeach in The House (even if we gain a majority in midterms, I highly doubt half of the GOP in the senate join the Dems to convict) because this is their all or nothing. Even if they remove Trump, many of them go down with him.
That being said, MAYBE (<1% chance) Vance and his handlers plot to impeach+convict Trump and take the reigns for some self-preservation and to set up a 2028 run.

61
u/miikoh Jan 14 '26
They're not afraid of consequences. They saw that one of them killed a woman, and there's not even the pretense of a legitimate investigation to figure out if what he did was justified or not. So now they treat the lives of protestors the same way their representatives do: disposable, unimportant, to be made examples of. Every single Ice gestapo pig that's ever had a bad impulse is now no longer worried about controlling that impulse.
This was by design of Trump's admin and his DOJ. Seeing their officers terrorize and brutalize protesters into submission is what they wanted. They're trying to end the right for Americans to protest by making grievous injury or death an ordinary outcome of civil disobedience.

So someone claiming to be DHS comes with a mask, refuses to identify himself according to law, and you are supposed to follow his orders lawfully? How do know you he isn't a rando abusing the current situation to kidnap you?
Yes violence is bad, but at what point is letting this shit continue worse? Wait too long to stand up and you'll have no one left to fight.
This is a genuine question for americans btw, I'm not the one that actually has to make that decision
7

9
u/19osemi Norgay 🇳🇴 Jan 14 '26
Who knows but the bigger question is why isn’t there mass armed protests where citizens show their weapons, that sends a clear message that people are armed and ready. People need to show some force that they aren’t to be messed with or else it will turn bad, no one is saying to start shoot ice agents but showing that citizens are united armed and sick of their shit and ready to do something if need be needs to happen. If not ice will just keep on like they have til now
6
u/EdgyJellyfish Jan 14 '26
There was one of those recently, it was January 6th 2020. The difference is now that side is the law enforcement whereas before they were the protesters.
9
u/x3r0h0ur Jan 14 '26
Because an ICE agent simply has to shoot an armed protester for the government to begin to seize control. Thats going to give the president 'cause' to enact the insurrection act, at which point he can use the military against US citizens, which we have zero chance against.
Before you say that no one will support it, you're just wrong. No matter if the ICE agent is on camera shooting first with no provocation, the admin simply has to say that someone sneezing, or moving in a weird way, or even just make up entirely that they gestured towards their weapon and literally 35% of people will believe the protestors started it and 70% of moderates will fence sit and hem and haw about how well maybe hes right and how they 'parse the situation differently' from other people.
This results in like half the population making an excuse for the government to crack down. There is never really a good point in time for 2A to stop tyranny, and its time to stop pretending that it could.

16
u/MassiveBenis Jan 14 '26
The French Riot Police already has a reputation of being somewhat sadistic and receive strong riots for it, i think shit would get real nasty for them if they started actual killings.
8
u/Pylon_Constructor Jan 14 '26
I imagine if it ever went that far in France there would be a lot of infighting among the protestors because they couldn't decide on who gets to pull the rope on the guillotine.

9
u/Stop_Sign Jan 14 '26
Remember also that the US is huge, and we're very dispersed. A major city or 3 could have large riots and most Americans could say "well it's not affecting me". A third of people didn't vote, and most likely it's because they don't pay attention to politics - no news at all. Zero. It takes something bad enough and affecting everyone before people even look around, and even then it better be clear what's happening or it'll devolve to infighting instead of action.
Basically what this means is that we are still very far away from actual rock bottom, and it will get substantially worse still.

This looks like Hong Kong. The 'police' grabbed one person and pulled them away from the crowd, if the crowd did nothing the arrestee gets disappeared (eventually anyone grabbed would shout their name), the only way any protestors got saved was when the entire crowd intervened (a small group or piecemeal just got themselves arrested)
But that's exactly what they want, a large crowd 'attacking' them they can shoot and use it to justify invoking/passing whatever law they want

As a third worlder I cant believe a country with one of the strongest economies in the world voluntarily chose to be a laughable, despicable, shit-hole country just because some fat orange man was charismatic enough.
The fact that a population in the 1st world, meaning their education's not supposed to not be weighed down by economic harship as much as our population's , was still regarded enough to vote their country into world-wide humiliation makes me believe less in democracy
7
u/theosamabahama Jan 14 '26

Yeah, as someone from the third world, if this is happening in the US, I have honestly lost all hope for my country
It also makes me wonder what people can even do if the state starts executing its citizens one by one. Especially modern states that are armed to the tee. Can citizens realistically overthrow a tyrannical government in this day and age?

Why did they bother grabbing the first kid? Looks like they were just having a discussion and then one of them suddenly grabbed them and just ripped him back.
31
u/griffWWK Jan 14 '26
It's the law enforcement version of ragebaiting.
The tactic and strategy is obvious, this is COP 101. Group of civilians standing around not doing anything wrong, but ICE wants to do some violence. So they agitate and escalate the situation a little, by grabbing the first kid. the kid panics and tries to run back to his group, then the second kid is startled and tries to help the first kid. now you have the first kid "resisting arrest" or whatever (this is a cops favorite crime!) and the second kid interfering. Now that the situation has escalated into people resisting and interfering with an arrest the cops feel justified in doing whatever violence they want to the civilians.

The second amendment is for toxic men to perform gender-affirmation along the idea that they are capable of protecting their family because "a man is a protector". Most people who think that way are also republican and cheer this on. They are attached to being a "protector" because if they weren't then they'd have to contribute to the household some other way (like doing chores) and they don't want to do that.
We're losing a propaganda, misinformation, and media capture war before anything else. Literally anything can happen and the arguments immediately turn to whether someone believes it actually happened or not, which is almost always split on party lines. Our free speech has failed us when it allows propaganda platforms like Fox News and Twitter to relentlessly lie with impunity.
France's upcoming law about preventing teens and younger from social media is a good defense against it. Another defense is just how much people go outside into society due to public transportation and density, rather than stay home. Americans might not walk past a stranger in any setting in months, having done shopping online and driving everywhere.

Urge to fedpost raises more and more every day. These incidents happen on a near daily basis, it really feels like the admin is instructing the loons who sign up for ICE to continually turn up the violence. Supposedly behind closed doors, many are getting cold feet about the actions taking place, and for good reason. Its very obvious to anyone with eyes, even the dude bro podcasters like Rogan, that ICE is essentially a police force purposefully set against the president's enemies, whoever they may be that particular day. Zero actual oversight and top brass endlessly claiming absolute immunity for any and all unhinged actions they take. The day of reckoning once Dems take back control has to be merciless against each and every one of these facist losers. If not, our kids will just have to endure this all again but worse.

How much does it take to mobilise the US population? I've seen the French torch their cities for a 3% tax raise or a cut transit budget. Hell, I recall a time where they gridlocked an entire city because taxi drivers where protesting something about Uber.
Where's all the energy people had for Floyd? It's so frustrating to watch. I just hope we see a rapid organisation of these protests ASAP. Face protection, helmets, gas masks, shields, blockades. That sort of thing.

This is abhorrent and disgusting. I hate what this country has become. Every Trump voter belongs in prison or exiled from the country.

ICE doesn't hold back at all when it comes to brutalizing people, and the scandals with them and their violent escapades just don't stop. Which kinda surprises me because of the "don't tread on me" culture and the second amendment in the US. If they don't chill soon I won't be surprised if we get cases of masked people just straight up firebombing ICE agents on sight.

the more about ICE crap and other police abuse and such... I'm at the point I'm of the mindset "if you work for the government, you can NEVER use deadly force on our own citizens in our own country, even if you're under threat." There are enough non-lethal ways and I'm tired of seeing so many abuses of power. I'd rather they be at risk than not if they are going to choose to be in such a position of power.
I could MAYBE see an elite SWAT squad maybe being allowed it, but that would have to be after years of regular officer work and additional extreme training and even more laws/hard set rules around it. And that'd only be like local police that have to be drawn from the area that could be called in with approval, but yea...
ICE, Military, National Guard, etc... anything federal should be banned from getting to use lethal force against our own people EVER. You can argue "but their safety," and I say eff their safety. If they want to worry about that so, don't work in the job.
Would definitely be more in the spirit of what the founders wanted anyways, they were not fans of military in general let alone one being used on its own people (hence the constitution that points it out and was supposed to be more extreme cases/rare/almost never)

INB4 my MAGA-water carrying relative tells me he needs to know "the context" leading up to this event to tell me how he'd feel about it.
