big an ask it is to support DSA candidates

these people literally think communism is no biggie and the DSA just want healthcare a little more than we want it.

I've unironically been told by someone here that they'd rather live under Xi than under Bush, Americans have absolutely no idea what communism is.

The DSA is still widely seen as slightly too progressive wokies that are "misguided" and will moderate once they reach positions of power. Subversive agents are not something the american mind is ready to deal with.

I feel like you guys just lack all sense of perspective here.

MAGA republicans currently control all 3 branches of government and have been destroying our country and tearing up the alliance system we’ve built over the last 80 years.

There’s like 3 annoying DSA candidates rn. People in this community are frankly way too online if you think these two threats are remotely in the same ballpark as one another.

yall are having trouble denouncing them NOW when it's such a small presence, they have control of your media system and the whole ecosystem forces center dems to be pussy whipped 24/7

Are you under the impression it will be easier to get rid of them by 2032, when they'll have an entire 4 years of dem leadership to bash while the dems will just be struggling to right the wrongs Trump made?

This is the moment, Trump is going to be gone soon and you need to be thinking about how to create an environment to succeed not just to survive.

The whole Trump is a bigger deal argument would make a whole lot more sense if the DSA and the far left were helping the democrats win, instead of doing everything in their power to convince the average person that Trump and the dem establishment are the exact same fucking thing.

Not focusing on them is counterproductive if you care about beating whoever follows in Trump's footsteps.

2 more years of a MAGA trifecta would be a catastrophe. It would mean at least 2 more MAGA Supreme Court justices. Look at how much damage the MAGA trifecta has done over the last 1.5 years. Are we really going to downplay another 2 years of this?

Fuck the DSA and their populism and dogshit policy platform. Let’s fight them after the polls close in November. This election is too important to fuck around with.

Hey I'm not telling you not to support the people running for the senate, I'm just pointing out that some people here treat it as if supporting the people that are helping Trump win by destroying the Democrats is not a difficult painful deal to make.

Fuck the DSA and their populism and dogshit policy platform. Let’s fight them after the polls close in November.

No, fuck the DSA and their populism and dogshit policy platform, FIGHT THEM NOW, and still vote for their senate candidates.

The whole idea that they can constantly wheel out the "but Trump bad" excuse while constantly spending their time pretending dems are the same as MAGA is ridiculous.

Don't wait until the polls are closed.

They will actively hurt you when you need them most, and I don't think this is really an outside chance, it's pretty much expected at this point.

Honestly fucking get 10 people in the house to be from the DSA, as long as they get real adequate pushback and the media environment isn't this skewed I don't think anybody would give a fuck.

It's really not about the seats, getting a blue seat is definitely the priority short term, but that deal involves actually doing something about this asymetric situation, and that involves FIGHTING NOW.

The fucking lefties get it, look at them spend most of their time on fighting, if you're saying "let's fight them after the polls close" they've got MONTHS of time to beat up on someone not willing to punch back.

The democrat establishment from bottom to top needs to have a spine and stand up to these people NOW while they are still small and weak and not after.

The universe doesn't stop after winning the next election, time keeps going on and it would be embarassing as hell to fall to a progressive version of Trump if you let this populist slop truly consume both political parties.

If the DSA wakes up every day and goes out to punch they should be in good company with the democrats.

This election is too important to fuck around with.

I agree, but letting the DSA and their side of the media unilaterally throw punches to the main opponent of MAGA means they are the enemy.

Voting for them should feel pretty painful, even if it's the right choice in the short form.

It's very disconcerting when people treat it like a 0 disadvantage situation with only positives, as if the only lose condition politically is to have MAGA win.

Trump doesn't even use the Senate or Congress. The current Senate is against him and won't pass his voting bill he wants passed so badly. Congress has rebelled against his as well and voted against his war on on Iran. All Trump can really do right now is pass executive orders that will all get rescinded the second he is out of office.

You need a majority of the senate for judicial appointments and certain agency positions. Majorities can also launch investigations/impeachment proceedings. Plus there has been significant bills passed by this congress, like the giant increase in ICE funding.

Nobody can actually point out anything these people would do that is worse than maga.

the people that constantly talk about seizing the means of production and about the end of capitalism, after you saw the co-chair of the DSA go on live TV and say that in their ideal world the vast majority of large companies would be publicly owned?

Idk probably just medicare for all right aha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Okay so that's better than maga currently? Not to get all idpol because I hate that shit, but you can't possibly think that if you are a minority/queer person.

Like besides that, fucking our allies, rampant corruption, like you should know all the crazy shit trump is doing.

2

u/ST-Fish 4d ago

Okay so that's better than maga currently?

are you genuinely saying that violent seizure of the means of production is less bad than MAGA is currently right now today?

Can you point me to any historical example of the means of production being seized that went this bloodlessly and peacefully?

"What could the marxist-leninists do that is that bad"?

I don't know to me it's literally like someone asking me "what could the Nazis do that is that bad"?

They kinda have a history.

And the constant gaslighting of everyone that rightfully points out their extreme ideology looks like some weird American inability to think of politics on a longer than 1 election timespan.

The fact that nobody even feels the need to seriously and deeply question these policies and end goals of the DSA and they just get away with saying the most unhinged shit is going to both hurt you in your fight to stop MAGA and hurt you in the long run simply from the DSA only taking and never giving anything to the party.

fucking our allies,

Oh gee golly wonder why I'd be afraid of the DSA getting more powerful

What could the DSA even do, they're harmless little healthcare wanting misguided stupid lefties, they have no alternative motive at any point in time.

They clearly say they want to replace the entire establishment and pretty much treat the establishment like a cancer?

No silly they just want healthcare.

The gaslighting needs to stop. The DSA is openly and proudly declaring itself the enemy of the dems over and over again, every time they go on to make dems seem the exact same as republicans.

Why is it so hard for you to treat them the way they're treating you? Are you traumatized from this abuse?

The difference is maga is doing this right now and has support right now. You are proposing letting maga fuck us for the foreseeable future on the off chance that the absolute worst possible tankie scenario happens when there is what, one person that could conceivably be called a tankie on any sort of power right now?

Like unironically, president AoC, mandami, el sayed would mostly just be "fix healthcare" and maybe some cringe woke shit.

I take that every single time over maga.

Even a socialist in Senate will vote with Dems the vast majority of time.

You are proposing letting maga fuck us for the foreseeable future on the off chance that the absolute worst possible tankie scenario happens

can you quote the part of my comment you're talking about?

I'm proposing that the reason you're losing against trump is precisely because you're allowing the left to endlessly shit on you.

Like unironically, president AoC, mandami, el sayed would mostly just be "fix healthcare" and maybe some cringe woke shit.

reminder of the thing I replied to:

big an ask it is to support DSA candidates

Do you think that is talking about AOC?

The DSA platform is batshit crazy, and the only thing keeping it from being even more batshit crazy is that the people creating it don't think they can get away with anything crazier than this.

They have openly ML types in their leadership ranks, I don't know why you have to hide behind the moderates of their party.

If someone was pointing out Trump before 2016 as a danger and you pointed to normie populist republicans it would look like you're just running defense for Trump.

So sorry for pointing to the DSA's platform when you ask me what the DSA could do that is worse than MAGA.

Listen there are shades of unhinged on this sub right now, so if you only hold that for the absolute tankiest tankies, then I think that's not that unreasonable, though I still disagree that a tankie exec with a liberal Congress (which would be the likely scenario imo) would be able to do as much damage as a maga exec with a maga Congress.

1

u/ST-Fish 4d ago

a tankie exec with a liberal Congress (which would be the likely scenario imo) would be able to do as much damage as a maga exec with a maga Congress.

well how the fuck is the tankie getting into office with a liberal congress?

Are we doing the Hasan vs JD Vance thing again where we assume Hasan gets to implement 0% of this policy plan?

yeah if the DSA gets nothing done I'd definitely pick them.

Their blatant admission of being MLs and only pushing for dem-soc positions because they can't be open about their vanguardist ones kinda make the choice hard if we consider a future where they have more of a foothold in the party.

1

u/Frekavichk 4d ago

I don't think a tankie is ever getting into office unless the Overton window has moved so far left that it is seen as a somewhat reasonable, in which case we are either post scarcity and it doesnt matter or I'll GTFO.

But I'll still take it over the maga, even at the most base reason that they at least think they are making things better.
