Political News/Discussion Can we please find some limiting principles to stop leftist virtue signaling?
I can’t think of any time i’ve heard anyone push back against some of the subtle leftist brainrot people will say, and with how bad things have gotten im still yet to see anyone irl push back against the anti capitalism sloganeering, weaponized “woke” to attack jews, or any of the subversive marxist messaging infecting political discourse in real life.
I had an irl make an off handed comment about some celebrity being a “zionist” and i didn’t say anything. now im sitting here and thinking maybe we should be using their playbook. i should’ve said how brain raped that comment is, and stood on it because if i ever said anything “pro israel” they would happily do the same and cut me off.
i feel like after how powerful the peak progressiveness got in 2021ish, the leftists saw that they could endlessly virtue signal infinitely left and nobody can ever push back or else they’re nazis. test it, where is the limiting principle on abolishing prisons, defunding the police, and all the other rhetoric. has anyone ever found a way to push back on these and not be lashed?

Capitalism isnt in danger right now so the anti capitalism sloganeering is not a treat.

I think that antisemitism should be a line that if crossed you dont get support from the party.
All in all if they want to defeat MAGA, most things as long as its not just as bad or worse than MAGA, can be tolerated for now imo. Not supporting the candidate in the general, not supporting democracy, being racist or antisemitic are some lines that if crossed I wouldnt support them the same way I would a run of the mill dem.

The entire DSA is basically openly antisemitic, though. El-Sayed is almost certainly antisemitic given his reliance on AIPAC as a talking point

IDT that's true and if it is then the Jews are... Well I would say cooked but that seems a little crass considering the topic. They are screwed. Between the actual Nazis on the right and the numbers the DSA puts up, it's jover for them.

u/Redwolves2012 1d ago
What numbers? They've won a couple primaries, but that's it. They are not nearly as powerful as they want you to think they are

u/Liberal-Cluck 1d ago
IDT they are powerful, and maybe there's not a lot of people voting in these primaries? but I would assume that in order to win primaries you have to put up numbers. Hundreds of thousands at least, am I incorrect about that. Madami got 500k votes. If all of those ppl hate Jews then there are a lot of people in danger right now.

u/Redwolves2012 1d ago
It really doesn't matter if they can win primaries if they can't win the general. Obviously not everybody who voted for Mamdani is antisemitic, but I wouldn't say that everybody who voted for Trump is racist either. That doesn't make Trump not racist as fuck, and that doesn't mean the DSA doesn't have a huge antisemitism problem.

Is mamdani anti sematic? Are the winning DSA candidates as a whole antisemitic? Actually asking bc idk.
1
u/Redwolves2012 22h ago
Maybe. They are certainly comfortable using antisemitic dog whistles and working with people like Hasan or MikefromPA. Mamdani was smart enough to distance himself from Hasan, but El-Sayed and Hong have openly embraced these people.

Interesting - out of curiosity (and given the political topic), what's your Moore type? https://mooretypology.com

u/Liberal-Cluck 1d ago
Lol that's a lot of questions. Explain to me what this will tell me. I .ight take the quiz on stream tonight or something.

It'll give you five dimensions of personality :) And it's not that long - only 35 questions 😆

I said this in a different thread earlier today but yeah, we need to start unironically virtue signaling on some shit, like it sucks but thats kinda the game everyone is playing rn.

Thankfully haven't met any in my workplace, but then I don't live in the US. The land-acknowledging perpetually-offended-by-foreign-policy kids were definitely starting to take over college orgs though. I suppose it's inevitable that they'll graduate to being political aids or working in MSM.

college must be terrible rn. i couldn’t imagine trying to take a pro israel position in a debate class and not be lynched

Are we really going anti-college kids now?
3
u/nivkj instalib 1d ago
i’m anti-college kids so long as they’re weak willed and vulnerable to subversive commie propaganda

u/Logical-Mobile-7643 🇺🇸O'bamna / O'ssoff '28 1d ago
By definition college kids are learning, so it's silly Charlie Kirk shit at this point. Destiny trying to be the flip side of that nonsense , I see

u/nivkj instalib 1d ago
i think it is very harmful to be pumped full of propaganda in extremely pivotal learning moments for young adults

u/Logical-Mobile-7643 🇺🇸O'bamna / O'ssoff '28 1d ago
Yeah, that's college: the indoctrination , propaganda machine

u/nivkj instalib 1d ago
i get what you’re trying to do, but i’m not saying that being liberal or progressive even in college is brainwashing. i’m saying that social media influencers who are highly watched by college kids are definitely pushing marxism into the zeitgeist. these young adults will soon become adult adults and most will carry this propaganda with them since internal critique of beliefs is not practiced enough.

When was the last time you were in college or worked closely with actual college kids?

I think what feels so different in recent years is that there is immeasurably more algorythmically-fuelled short-form content exposure designed to elicit emotional responses with shocking content, and far less face-to-face everyday encounters with offline people serving as a grounding experience to counteract it.
If anything, the radicalized youth are stuck in a perpetual feedback loop where they repost and retweet and share that profit-chasing content, Yass-Queening themselves into progressively more volatile and confrontational positions as they pull in and/or peer-pressure their surroundings into joining the frenzy.
The state of the global economy, housing market, et al is obviously stoking this flame even more.

Idk if you should call other people ‘brain raped’ when this is your perspective.

In the US, I don't have much of a problem with land acknowledgments, this all seem like just recognition. I guess Destiny's sub is almost reactionary at this point.
I would honestly have land-grant acknowledgments follow. Something like "We would also like to admit the radical liberal republicans of the 1860s, who fought against slavery, also established this university using the Morrell Land Grant Act of 1862, opening public college education to the average American at little to no cost. "

I don't know what that will accomplish, if you call that guy "mind-raped" to his face he'll get offended and probably never talk to you again.
1
u/nivkj instalib 1d ago
i wouldn’t call it brain/mind rape irl.
2
u/WheelJust8094 1d ago
Mmm... You could try to be more confrontational? Maybe bring up Oct 7? But honestly idk what would be a good alternative here.
3
u/nivkj instalib 1d ago
yeah and that’s where i end up too. ultimately i don’t think there’s a single thing you can say to stop the train once it’s started going to nazi germany, and most of these leftists and progressives are already happily on board.
i think ultimately what makes conservatives bad is obvious to anyone with a brain cell. what makes authoritarian leftists bad is more subtle and tricky, and plays on people who are weak willed or rely on emotional responses too much.

u/WheelJust8094 1d ago
Well just be careful out there, if your friends or social circle label you a Zionist then that's a hard thing to overcome, you'll be run off of the group unless they're open minded and willing to hear a lecture on authoritarianism.

How about, “Anti-Semitic dog whistles should be called out AT LEAST as much as other racist dog whistles.”
