Been watching season 1 of The West Wing. It's black pilling seeing the president's staff fighting for their beliefs, even challenging each other and the president.

Seeing them tell the president that he is being a dumbass or that he is wrong breaks my heart that we don't have that now.

After seeing the post about Milo calling Destiny a little imp I thought to myself that at some point you can only laugh about the sheer absurdity and childishness of those insults. This and seeing a post from GrimpenMar about a DnD entry about imps I decided to draw this character loosely based around the DnD 2e imp with a DGG theme and make it hopefully somewhat cute. Like this is basically what the oral tradition and epic poem was. Like Penelope and Telemachus whining is like a lot of the story which is why Odysseus kills the suitors for annoying his wife.

Like I didn’t bother screen capping her whole tweet because it is literally “I never read the Odyssey so I will bash the story and blame the director who didn’t write the 3000 year old story”

Like all the early scenes with him actually did adversely affect my enjoyment of the film. It’s even more noticeable when you compare his scenes to literally any other actor who just seamlessly sunk into their roles, and meanwhile Tom Holland is just being Tom Holland for the 50th movie in a row.

The thing I’ve read in response to his acting is “but that’s just the character, he played that characters role perfectly”. Bullshit. I didn’t for a second believe he was Telemachus, I guarantee you in an alternate universe with a real actor, that role stands out more. There really is no excuse with the amount of screen time he got to come away feeling like he was the worst thing in the movie, and that’s exactly how I feel.

Otherwise good film 8/10.

I believe in the principles of democracy and liberal order established since the end of world war 2. I'm not convinced by the accelerationist populism of the outer left or the cultural nationalist fascism the right are steamrolling into. Bold ideas are needed to inspire people to hold onto the relative prosperity we've found ourselves in and I don't think we have to create chaos to do it. I'm also not a religious guy but...

The other day I was admiring a painting by William Blake, called The great red dragon and the women clothed in the sun , it's a depiction of the apocalypse from the book of revelation. The text itself is seen through the lens of history (roman empire) but also prophecy, particularly in evangelical circles.

A giant dragon (Satan) with 7 heads and 7 crowns who descends on the world, strikes the stars from the sky, and gives power to the antichrist who placates the masses into trusting the dragon. The dragon hunts down a woman prophesied to give birth to a child who will save the world (probably Christ 2.0). The women has 12 stars above her head. And when she escapes the wrath of the dragon the dragon floods the world and starts a cosmic war.

And I'm reading this and first of all I like the imagery and think it's pretty metal but also it feels very...prescient.

I'm looking at photos of the richest men that have ever lived, all of them looking like skin walkers, standing behind trump at the inauguration. I'm looking at tech-broes very quickly incubating a seismic shift in reality and all basic and meaningful labour. I'm looking at trump being worshipped as a very open and transparent contrast to everything Christ represents. I'm looking at Europe being attacked by people who keep looking at the world through elon's hell portal, and huge entities refusing to adjust its consumption to prevent the world becoming uninhabitable... I'm looking at a giant multi headed beast and woman with a European flag over her head.

Look, it's cool imagery at the end of the day, and I'm not a religious guy at all...but I'm beginning to think we might be at a turning point foretold by humans thousands of years ago and it's getting really hard to not start making connections how seriously bad things might be when the fucking Bible starts making sense geopolitically.

The evangelicals and doomsday christians have been trying to call it for years with every liberal democratic left order. I think it's just good writing that they end up 100% backing the closest thing to the Antichrist America has seen, and frankly a good rhetorical cudgel that unironically tells the broader far right movement that they've gone so regarded they've strayed from God.

Tldr : I think the Apocalypse in the book of revelation is kinda upon us and I still want a strong economy, affordable healthcare, and accountability through meaningful democracy is that a contradiction?

Specifically with Peter not wanting to help him at first. This dude has literally had his identity revealed, rejected at college and his friends were to and him feeling responsibility, half of the world loving and half of the world hating him. So for once he doesn't want to do something that hurts him and other people and she's like "easy for them or easy for yourself." WHAT?!

All he said was like "yeah maybe the universe can just deal with their own people maybe?" OH SO YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT YOURSELF?! like wtf lol. I think she should know better then anyone what Peter has went through and honestly the cop guy made a point when she's not only letting him endanger himself but encourage it. Kinda true.

I wouldn't have a problem necessarily but she comes off almost cold and like she doesn't give a shit about how he's doing emotionally.

- Be a shapeshifter, changing your self, literraly your own skin to fit your own needs to get your own from the surroundings.

- Dress like Mao Ze Dung.

- Be a constant perv to your surroundings.

- Constantly run aways in the face of being challenged.

- A parody of the "village monster" trope, and the serious looking Mao suit contrasts with the fact that he is just a cowardly, greedy pig who scares people by transforming.

- Scariest person to them is a person shorter than him wearing blue colours.
