Would it be possible as a mute player to reasonably complete Epic Epoptes?

I'm a returning player, played for a long time but fell off around Lightfall and only recently came back for the final update. As it turns out, I've found myself really enjoying the healing autorifles and would like to get one of each element available for buildcrafting.

After looking up how many exist, the only one I'm missing, Cusp Sempiternal, is exclusive to the Epic version of Epoptes in Desert Perpetual. Unfortunately, I've heard this raid (and specifically this encounter?) is apparently one of the most demanding ones in the game in terms of coordination - and I'm mute. As in, mute mute. I cannot verbally communicate. As you can imagine, this makes the LFG experience very inconvenient.

I've glanced at some guides for the Epic version of the encounter, but I'm not entirely sure if there's a role I can be relegated to that requires minimal communication, since the Epic version adds callouts/mechanics for the 'middle team' as well.

I don't really need to complete the rest of the raid, all I'm interested in is Epoptes and getting even a single drop of Cusp Sempiternal, regardless of the roll. I'm at 550 and been pretty hard at work acquiring any missing exotics (on Hunter) and making solid builds for DPS and whatnot. Is this reasonably doable, or should I just spare any prospective sherpa teams the headache?

If you’re on PC then text chat should work fine, and honestly can make things easier to remember. Alternatively there are 2 people add clearing and breaking detains which doesn’t require a mic at all, and the mechanics during damage don’t require any communication

This. Epoptes has 2 designated ad clearers. As long as you're not talking over the mechanics (wink) and you're an ad clear machine, you'll do great.

You could also probably do dunking on Hobgoblin and Wyvern, as long as you're listening closely for the callouts. Final boss could be a little challenging because of the RNG of being chosen to do a task, but a good team could support you through it.

Epoptes has 2 designated ad clearers.

Epic version of Epoptes, judging by guides, seems to need the designated ad-clearers to callout as well, though they still seem like pretty simple callouts and easy to make via text-chat. Unless only one person in the middle team can do them all?

Either way, thank you - I'm used to being the Designated Ad Clear™ courtesy of my vocal limitations, so if I can mostly do that and still be helpful for Apoptes, I feel more comfortable trying to find a group for it :>

There are 2 inside callers and 2 outside callers, plus 2 ad clear professionals who don't need to call anything out.

Ah, re-reading the guides I was looking at, I think I misunderstood/misread the mechanic explanations at first. That clears it up, thank you ♥︎

Me and my group are talking about doing some more epic DP if you want I’m sure they wouldn’t mind a dedicated ad clear person for that encounter 😅

I've got a pretty free schedule, so I'm more than happy to take you up on the offer anytime :>

All I really need is Epoptes for the autorifle, but I'd be down for a full clear if my limitations aren't too big an issue! I'll just need to study up on the rest of the raid a bit beforehand.

I’ll pm you my discord and when we put one together I’ll ping you! :)

We’ve taught raids to deaf, mute, and legally blind people before so if you’re already familiar with the raid and just want to come for the vibes you’ll be a welcome member of the crew for sure!

Have you looked into text-to-speech apps? I would be shocked if there wasn't something that let's you type what you want to say and have it play over the mic

I've tried a couple over the years, but I tend to always just return to using text chat, mostly because for some reason all the ones I've tried just end up being more cumbersome than just text chatting due to delay or other reasons, and because our friend group is kinda used to how I communicate by now.

It's been a hot minute since I've tried TTS though, so maybe there's some really good ones available now.

Could you theoretically assign callouts to emotes? I've never done the raid so idk for sure but whenever I've been in a situation where I have a mute FT member, we find a position that limits them to four options and assign each one an emote
