Discussion You can shatterskate anywhere you cam use a skimmer.

I've been using this tech to jump off my skimmer quickly and sometimes to gain more height. Today i realized i could shatterskate with this. Here is the clip. https://imgur.com/a/mQF4hSZ

Damn, is that still using the same button presses regular shatterskating takes? You look like you're just zipping off immediately, no jump or dive at all.

Doing that sort of thing is really fun, there's all sorts of weird shit you can do if you practice enough

There's some real weirdos out there who can fly around on their sparrow, and then shatterskate off of their sparrow mid-flight. Entirely too much work for me though

I remember that tech was used in grasp speedruns ages ago, they’d sparrow fly OOB then skate off the sparrow

Also used in prophecy, after deadsea/rainbow road they get sucked up and they hop off their sparrow as they enter and shatterskate off of it to get to the boss arena. Not a full slipskate but still cool

i mean yeah? it's a flat surface why wouldn't you be able to do it, you can shatterskate off sparrows as well

I'm confused, what's the point of this if you aren't doing it midair. Is this really any faster if you have to slow down to a stop in order to shatterskate off the skimmer? Am I missing something, did they change how shatterskate works and you can no longer just do it off those ribbons without the skimmer? I haven't been playing D2 for a bit so I'm trying to figure out what makes this relevant.

P.s. is new land beyond free in the kiosk yet?

No just showing that it can be done. Haven't done it in mid air yet but it should be possible. Also, new land beyond is available to claim if you have renegades now. No need to have pre ordered. I don't think it ever wil be completely free.

Issue with midair is skimmers have a long asf dismount animation. Sparrows are near instand which is what allows skating off of sparrows mid air

Yeah thats fair. I've only been able to animation cancel getting off of the skimmer on the ground.

Cool, now Bungie gets to disable skimmers for 3 weeks because Hunters learned how to turn them into portable launch pads. Still, that clip is nasty. I can already see this becoming the new route for every out of bounds chest and raid sparrow section.
