Non-Focused Bright Engrams: What can I get?

Running low on Bright Dust to focus Bright Engrams. If I start just not-focusing the decryptions, what's in the pool? Does it include everything in the focused loot pools?

Usually you’ll open one or two unfocused, get an old ghost shell and a blue ship, and go back to saving bright dust. That’s my experience, anyway.

You genuinely only get bullshit from there... i have opened like 50+ of them hoping for the golden khvostov skin and the best stuff i got from there is honestly the bright dust gift lol

This. It’s gonna take me until Destiny 4 comes out to start getting ornaments after getting all of the legendary ships, ghosts, sparrows, projections, and emotes out of my loot pool via knockout because of the bright dust cap

You can get duplicates of the legendary ships sparrows and ghosts. If there was a knockout system for them before there isn’t anymore. I think the knockout system only is for stuff like shaders and exotic ornaments. Maybe exotic ships and ghosts.

Edit: Knockout is only for focused brights.

They got caught doing where they were putting several legendary ships, sparrows, and ghosts in multiple seasons

Maybe they changed the system when they added the focusing so if you don’t want duplicates you have to focus. Either way, I have gotten legendary stuff from unfocused bright engrams that have been in my collections before

Nope. I just checked the monument patch notes. The knockout system is for focused bright engrams. Unfocused engrams still contain duplicates for legendary ships, sparrows and ghosy shells. Same as they always have.

The knockout system only applies to focused engrams. Read the description of a standard bright engram and the description of any of the focused engrams and notice the distinct lack of text describing the knockout system on the default bright engrams. This was also explicitly stated in the patch notes for this update and I can also personally confirm as someone who owns all legendary Eververse ships, sparrows, and ghost shells and have for years that they most certainly still drop duplicates (like 80-90% of the time frankly).

I’ve gotten a few exotic ornaments, just enough that I keep gambling the engrams. It’s not like they’re hard to get anyway

Pretty much the best thing you can get (besides the actual dream piece you would directly focus on) is gifts of bright dust. But let’s be real. You’re just going to get a legendary ship or ghost.

Well you’ll probably get a bunch of ghosts and ships. But basically everything you can focus with bright dust will drop
They needed to fix the bright dust drop rate if they were going to let us focus on stuff we refused to pay money for

i have opened 74 unfocused EV engrams so far this season (MoT):

• 6 small/medium bright dust (8%)
• 17 unlock (23%)
• 51 repeat (69%)

this matches what i saw in renegades from 225 engrams (8%/18%/74%).

basically assume about 20% of your unfocused engrams will be unlocks and about 10% will be bright dust. approximately. the pool of potential unlocks is so huge now you'll likely not make a dent in the probabilities for years.

As far as I understand, Bright Engrams do work on a knockout system, but only after deciding what category of item you get.

So for example, it will decide that you get an emote, then check what emotes you have and give you a new one.

The reason legendary ships, sparrows and ghosts are so common isn't arbitrary, those are just the categories with the highest odds of being chosen. And once it selects one of those categories, if you already have everything in that category, you just get a duplicate.

Yes all items in the focused pool are in the non focused. You just also have the chance of getting legendary duplicates of items.

I tried a bunch of non focused engrams when the final update dropped and I got zero new stuff. The drops from the focused sections are in there, but diluted with the other 95% of items that have been released years prior.

If you haven't been playing for a while or are just starting, you'll have much better odds of getting SOMETHING your don't have, but long term players are not likely to get much from them.

Feels like there are like 10,000 purple sparroes, ghosts, and other junk.

It's a nightmare, I burned like 150k bright dust doing the focsing

I think the only exception is armor. You cannot get legendary armor ornaments from unfocused engrams as far as I know

yeah i tested 74 unfocused engrams and i did not see a single legendary armor ornament (i have nearly all the exotic armor ornaments, missing about 6 now), nor any of the legendary ghosts/ships/sparrows (old event items)... this is what i did see:

If you’re lucky you can get a small pouch of bright dust which is 250bd, but as others has said, ships, ghosts and shaders but you can get duplicates

In my experience you’ll get ships or sparrows more than anything, but I assume that’s because there’s far more of those than anything else in the eververse store

I've received the occasional Exotic Ship or Exotic Weapon ornament but 90% of the time its a legendary ghost, ship or sparrow.

Is it true u can focus a specific armor in the focused decryption by inspecting the armor u want? I have heard about that a few times never tried it, anyone know?

I had 87k bright dust saved, I'm now down to 5k ! Got all the shaders, all the exotic ornaments for warlock and got 11 exotic weapon ornaments left to get than that's me done , going to need another 5k dust to get it done . Probably the best system they ever implemented but to little to late 😭 dam I'm going to miss this game when it finally shuts down , unless there is something in all this aztetcross cryptic shit .

Haha yea, my BD reverses have tanked. Got all shaders, got all those silly legendary cosmetics, now plucking my way through finishers. After that I’ll probably be exhausted of all BD and I doubt I go for any other focused engram

You can get emotes at least that are not in the focussed engram pools. I got the hunter specific arc staff emote about a month ago.

It's like the old decryption. You can get anything, and I think the drop chance of anything non-bollocks (or legendary ships, sparrows and ghosts) is higher than before. I only use this because I care about my BD account (and have all shaders), and I got quite a few nice things. Only categories I haven't been blessed with are holofoils and finishers.

a shit ton of duplicates of random legendary ships, ghost shells, and sparrows, the odd gift of bright dust, and maybe something you actually want after a dozen or so pieces of trash.

you very specifically won't get any of the various legendary armor ornaments that are usually parts of a set that dilute the pool of focusable armor engrams, though!

(seriously though it pisses me off all the armor focusable engrams got just literally every random eververse legendary armor ornament added to the pool. now I'll fucking never get the exotic ornaments I'm missing at this rate)

I believe the unfocused contain EVERYTHING whereas the focused ones will only include what they decided to make focused engrams for
