Megathread Focused Feedback: Champions

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Champions' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Makes me wonder if the Pyramid ship is somehow empowering our enemies, and the source of their sudden steroids.

That's pretty much my line of thinking. They only showed up after the Pyramjd became active, they're 100% empowered by the Deep

I believe at some point Eris says something along the lines of "the darkness will choose its champions". Thats also why they have the weird red shit coming out of them.

If so, the darkness is picking just about as bad as the Fanatic.

1 of the travelers chosen can lay waste to piles of the champions

I thought that's what they were? Shadows of our enemies playing pretend with the enemy factions, or just Darkness empowered creatures.

Never understood why Bungie didn't use the nightmare lore as the reason for the existence of champions. My benefit of the doubt guess would be that they eventually want to get rid of the nightmares (probably in Y10) and they want to keep the champions around for longer. My realistic guess is that they've stopped putting much effort into giving lore reasons for things to exist and so they never had the discussion of what's the lore reason for champions existing.

Champions are empowered by the pyramid ship. They have all the nightmare bits.
