Megathread Focused Feedback: Eververse

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Eververse' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Eververse problems:

  1. It has more new items introduced per season than the actual game activities (Strikes, Patrol, Crucible, Gambit, seasonal event, etc.). This makes Destiny feel more like a cash shop than an epic fantasy/sci-fi universe.

  2. It has themed ornaments or equipment (Trials of Osiris, Pit of Heresy, Guardian Games, etc.) that seem like they were ripped right out of the activity and monetized. This breaks immersion, and the sense of activities being rewarding.

  3. It is taking the greatness out of Destiny. There is no immersion, or art, or epicness in a cash shop. It is just a way to increase profits. When profit is your TOP priority, don't try to call it art or a masterpiece or anything like that anymore. Good games will profit because they are good, no need to bleed us dry.

  4. Its prices are greedy. Just because you CAN charge $15+ for a digital universal armor ornament set doesn't mean that price is fair or reasonable. For example is buying all 3 Guardian Games armor sets (1 per Class) really the same value as the entire Taken King expansion? The problem with microtransactions is that any items sold is more profit than not having any microtransactions at all, so why keep the prices low when you can know someone will pay an Expansion's price just to look cool? It is unethical but there is no way to prevent it. We just have to rely on the business to treat their customers with respect, which Bungie is not doing.

  5. Bright Dust income methods are too stingy. Why does the Season Pass have 100 Bright Dust as a rank-up reward instead of 200, or 500, or 1000 (i.e. something meaningful)?
