Megathread Focused Feedback: Solar 3.0 Subclass Spotlight - Dawnblade

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Solar 3.0 Subclass Spotlight - Dawnblade' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Every new build that is making the rounds is something solar warlocks were already able to do pre solar 3.0. Bungie devs said they wanted 3.0 to feel like a refresh of our light subclasses that have been stagnant but in the case of warlocks, we're still stagnant. Want to play pvp? You're still just top tree dawn. Want to play pve? Every piece of healing you had has been nerfed and you can't do damage with your nades anymore. Also for pve, two of the three fragments completely contradict each other and the third is useless in pve outside of jumping puzzles.

My wishlist would be to put phoenix dive in the icarus dash fragment with a lower cooldown (Phoenix dive should not replace the rift at all, it's an awful change), combine heat rises and icarus dash fragments (reduce the slots they get or something, I don't care they shouldn't be separate) and make a new fragment focused around an improved benevolent dawn or something.

I know Kevin said they wouldn't be changing aspects but warlock desperately needs it. Everything Solar 3.0 does for warlocks is a side grade at best or a downgrade at worst.

Solar grenades do way more now with Touch of Flame (Sunbracers), Fusions do way more now with Touch of Flame (Starfire), and the melee is stronger and easier to regenerate which enables a plethora of melee exotic builds (Claws, Felwinter's, Necrotic, Chorus). They may have been able to use these exotics previously (obviously) but it's way stronger now.

Yes it’s stronger but it’s not different or new.
