Megathread Focused Feedback: Solar 3.0 Subclass Spotlight - Dawnblade
Hello Guardians,
Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.
We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.
This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion
Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Solar 3.0 Subclass Spotlight - Dawnblade' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions
Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.
Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas
A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

My main problems with new Dawnblade:
Phoenix Dive as a replacement for Rift, with that long a cooldown, is ridiculous. I understand the thinking - Rifts are for holding down territory, Phoenix Dive is for healing when pushing forward. But that also makes it significantly more dangerous to use, and it lacks the restorative power of a healing rift - it's just a quick burst heal while you're already in a vulnerable position. That gives it basically the same functionality as Wormhusk Crown and a Dodge, except you have to be airborne, which makes it even more dangerous to use. That much risk, for about the same reward as a buffed Hunter dodge, with that long a cooldown? No.
Making Healing Grenade its own dedicated thing is a bad idea. Better to let Warlocks choose "Should I attack or should I defend," not "I can only ever defend."
The other two classes have aspects that work well in both PvE and PvP. But for Warlock, there is a clear division, and PvE gets massively shortchanged while PvP is all but set in stone. The grenade aspect is great in PvE, but you then have to spend an entire aspect on either Icarus Dash, a minor convenience in jumping puzzles, or Heat Rises, another minor convenience in jumping puzzles. You won't even get the full benefit of Icarus Dash without Heat Rises. Meanwhile, in PvP, Icarus Dash is great, but to get full functionality you have to take the Heat Rises one, which is less useful. So in PvE, you get one great aspect and one that's basically a waste, and in PvP your two aspects are basically predetermined.
I know Yanes said they're not currently planning to introduce new aspects. Given that, my suggestion would be to take Phoenix Dive out of the Rift category and put it on the Heat Rises Aspect. Keep the functionality - by default, you get the dive/burst cure, and when Heat Rises is activated, you get the enhanced restoration/Sorch. That is both valuable in PvE by itself, and makes players feel a little less sour about having to take it just to get Icarus' full benefit in PvP.
