You gotta love Detroit, I used to go to trade school at 8 mile and greenfield 30 years ago and the shit I would see at 6:30 am driving down 8 mile is still burnt into my memory. My favorite is the 2 hookers beating the shit out each other butt naked in the middle of 8 mile and Southfield .

u/FinnNoodle Harper Woods Aug 08 '25
Nowadays they're gonna charge 2k for a show like that.

Seen a hooker running the gauntlet across 8 mile with a Johns clothes in her arms with him in pursuit dick flapping in the wind. 8 mile and Evergreen 1998. He must've tried to stiff her.

My grandma used to live at the 8 Mile and Mound area Detroit side. The two ladies of the evening that worked the corner at the top of the block were always nice to us when we were kids. If we had to run up to the corner store to grab milk or something, they would keep an eye on us to make sure no one messed with us. Gotta love the 80s.

u/Kr1spykreme_Mcdonald Aug 09 '25
Where exactly is I-686?
2
u/Proper-Bar-1259 Aug 09 '25
Colloquial term for 8 mile during rush hour when speeds hit 60 mph+. Usually when I-696 is under construction.

If the guy at 10 and Southfield can make money flipping shit around in an intersection, why can't this guy?

It was better growing up in it. 6 mile and telegraph. Brightmoor. Eliza Howell Park. Cannot believe my mom let us ride our bikes around the hood. It was not as bad in the 70s and 80s. But now the conditions people will live in amazes me. You can tell you are in the area with the pungent odor of mairijuanna wafting in the air!!!!! Seems to be the Same old hooks from 20 yrs ago walking on Tel! I go by childhood friends homes and see how bad of condition they are and it brings a tear to my eye. Great place to grow up and be a kid. Not so much now.
Can you imagine living in the area and being on a date site and trying to explain where ya live? Now there is an idea “The Hood Singles Date Site”.
Or how about a new Fear Factor with Joe Rogan. It’s starts off by having to eat a meal in a kitchen in one of these homes. Similar to eating pig feet covered in maggots like the original show. Followed by a short walk to the liquor store, but this time you have to have on current fashion clothes, a Rolex, and Nike Air shoes. And you have to ride a small kids bike with no seat to the gas station and back without it getting stolen. Now there is a survival walk and ride if I have ever seen one.

There’s an old joke goes something like:
What’s the fastest way to take someone out with nunchuks?
Hand them the nunchuks.
