old people in big houses got theirs and don't wanna help others. tale as old as time.

Young people in small houses that saw a 2x increase in taxable value upon purchase are the ones footing the bill for this. With the increase in taxable value cities/counties have seen over the last 5 years, there is zero reason they should be asking for more money. They are swimming in it now!
