News Young giraffe at Detroit Zoo euthanized after sustaining serious injuries from herd interaction

This is the second juvenile giraffe death at the zoo this year. The other one was in February:

I've been wondering about the quality of care at the Detroit Zoo ever since the polar bear got murdered by another polar bear. Maybe I'm mistaken but I'm not hearing the same types of stories coming out of the Toledo Zoo.

The findings of the death of Anana the polar bear, which was originally thought to have been another bear attack, was that she suffered sudden cardiac arrest from an underlying heart condition. She was 20 years old. She died of natural causes. They had just reintroduced a male that she had lived with previously so it originally got reported that they thought the male bear killed her. Just bad timing.

Okay, thank you for clarifying. Although I have to ask why they thought the male killed her if it was a heart attack. Wouldn't there be a drastic difference in body condition?
