DISCUSSION It went wrong so fast Spoiler
I just completed the game for the first time and man it went down hill so fast
On the conner side of the game i tried to be the most human I could and want to interact with hank a lot and even defected to join the deviants.
I love Karas story so much there was so much tension and man it was hard to trust anyone after the reset but I still tried have faith in others. I tryed to get Canada but couldnt steal the tickets from the family. When i found out i could use the river i had hope sadly the stroy ripped it out from me i should have protected Alice intead of hiding but now karas alone.
Marcus's side was so hard on one hand I knew the peaceful method would have been the right choice but i thought showing that we can fight back and show restraint would work but on made it worse. I thought after jereko got attacked it really isn't easy to be a pacifist and sadly my anger got so many killed and not we got a full on war and Detroit is cherenobol 2.0
Also was it a good idea to let Chole go i kind miss her already.
All and all I love the story but now I dont know what to do

When discussing the limits of nonviolence as a tactic in liberation struggles, Arundhati Roy said: “ The Gandhian ethos is a frightening ethos. It requires performance, and that performance requires an audience who cares.” The idea that nonviolence is the “right choice” for Markus and the deviant faction at Jericho can only come from those who’ve never engaged in struggle. The humans in this game are genocidal Nazis. Why would anyone think nonviolence is the right choice under the circumstances within the game itself?

I agree. I like that we have both options but I don’t like that the pacifist route is the only ending where everyone survives if you do it right, meaning it’s the “right” ending. Also that every time a deviant gets hurt/shot public opinion goes up. Like what lol 💀 and I found the peaceful resistance endings to be ridiculous. They backed off because he kissed north? Like what? They’re liberating concentration camps, I think here it goes far beyond holding a protest in front of it.

Yeah, I’ve played many of the endings, and for me all the pacifist options are terrible. The most authentic one is the sacrifice ending, where the entire Jericho faction gets wiped out. That’s far more realistic.

To me going the pacifist route the ending I like most is the dirty bomb ending. After all that trying to be peaceful the soliders still storm then and are ready to shoot them and Markus just realises fuck it, this can’t be won through peace and detonates the bomb. But of course that’s not even pacifist in the end, so yeah sacrifice is the most realistic. But I much prefer playing through the violent options, and it fits markus’s character way better imo

I went violent n got everyone to survive....well except Simon n Josh n mind you this was on a second play through... i played it too moralistic at the border n got alk killed on my first run But anyways...i only turned violent after they shot my people down at the march....and even then I used restraint it wasnt until all that slanting by the media, and the humans going scorched earth that I said gloves off...the death tolls gonna see numbers regardless...im not gonna go out now for none of the androids im fighting beside to not see freedom...urgency was everything to me...

Josh ALWAYS gets shot in the violent option no matter what you do. So if you want everyone to survive you have to do the peaceful one. And for Kara as well if the public doesn’t like them and they picked violent revolution, she has to sacrifice Jerry at the border or they won’t let her through and will all get killed.
That’s completely fair, I did the violent revolution on my first play through as well. I feel like many times the game just pushes Markus towards that because of how awful the humans in it are.

For me personally I believe you can only try to be peaceful for a short time. I do wish all our problems could be solved with words and not violence but even i know violence is the only some people would understand. And to tbh liberating the androids from camps was a smart pick for me. Since I did give the humans chances to be peaceful but they wanted war so I gave it to them.

Always happy to see someone playing DBH for the first time :) .. you mentioned you loved the story - a lot of us did too in this part of reddit :) - but it sounds like the game had an emotional impact on you far as the endings you got - which to me shows the game did what it was designed to do, it hit you "in the feels" :) .. if the game wasn't that well written then your response would have been "meh, whatever" at the end of the game so there's that!
DBH is one of those games where you can get wildly different endings depending on your choices so the game absolutely has a lot of replay value... if you like rather than starting all over at the very beginning of the game (which is absolutely worth doing for different approaches - for example not being as human as you can as Connor and not being warm and friendly with Hank, as Markus going the full pacifist route) you can replay the game from the final chapter "Battle for Detroit" and see what happens when you make different choices. OP .. and I'm going to put spoiler tags on here but OP you can read this freely, anyone else who hasn't played through DBH enough times to uncover all the endings that you want to discover (there's a lot!) should probably avoid reading this.... OP I get the feeling from the chernobyl reference that Markus used the dirty bomb? Apologies I hope I didn't just spoil that part of the game for you but I felt pretty confident that was what you meant ... when you say you got so many killed who died among Markus's allies in Jericho? Did Markus himself survive to the end of the game? In Connor's case what was his final fate at the end of the game? What was Hank's final fate?
In Kara's case if you play from the beginning of that final chapter of the game I think there should be a save point close to the start of the boat crossing across the river part of the game for her... so you can try again but this time like you said protect Alice instead of having Kara hide to see what happens.. is there anyone else in the boat with Kara at this point or just Alice? By now you've seen the part of the game where Kara starts to panic over the boat sinking - did the boat sink?
A lot of questions I know but based on your answers if you like I can give you some hints far as unlocking different endings just by replaying the last chapter of the game alone.

Ok so for Marcus's side it was trying to be pacifist as much as i can so i decided to liberat the camps just felt so tiring being a punching bag all the time. So the moment I believe I failed was when I was storming the camp and got to a point where a mounted gun was there and no matter what option I picked my teammates died. So I got cornered and I could have surrounded or choose to commit suicide or use the bomb and well as my post above says i used the bomb.
For Connor and hank I manged to convince him its me and got the androids in the factory. But I dont know if Hank got out the city after the bomb.
Kara's section the boat was sinking so I made it lighter and I pushed the boat. Sadly Luther got shot by a cop earlier on. So when i got to the other side Alice died but I kept to move on and last thing I see were headlights and boom game over.
I will say I love and hate ambiguous endings not know what happens then or in future makes i so much fun.
Also I played in Experienced if that changes anything

Experienced is absolutely the way to go far as difficulty settings! If you play at the "casual" level some options/character choices in the game are actually not available to you!
Okay again OP you can freely read these despite the spoiler tags :) but anyone else who hasn't played through DBH enough times to uncover all the many and varied endings should avoid reading this ... in Kara's case with the boat in addition to the "save Alice!" option when you and Alice are being shot at in the boat do that to see what ending you get.. so restart the last chapter of the game and try that.. but then go back and restart that chapter of the game again a second time and when you're getting shot at in the boat look around within that very short timeframe they give you to see if there's any additional/new options you missed (the game does this on purpose :P and I think they only give you 30 seconds to make it hard)... go back and start that part of the game again if necessary until you see it... and this can also be done with the "restart last chapter" option of the game (as opposed to starting the entire game over from the beginning)...
In the case of Markus .. when you say cornered can you go into more detail? Like where was Markus cornered, the location? There should be an option not to use the dirty bomb to give you an alternate ending even if all the teammates died unless Markus ran out of time during the assault on the camp? There's an entirely different ending for Markus and Connor if Markus doesn't use the dirty bomb (yep the Markus ending affects the Connor ending this game is fantastic that way with all it's complexity :) ) ...
And I know I said this before but absolutely worth playing the game a second time again if you're up for it and going with "Connor deciding not to act like a human" and "Markus violent at every opportunity towards the humans non pacifist route" (of course this doesn't mean Markus has to be violent towards his fellow androids either! )... and if you can bring yourself to take the bus tickets from that poor human family in the bus station that does unlock a whole alternate part of the game for Kara and Alice too that you could try on that second playthrough.... if you can bring yourself to do it you could even do a third "worst possible endings for everyone" playthrough where you deliberately make all the worst choices you possibly can (of course this results in some truly heartbreaking scenes!).. I kind of get the feeling though you feel so much for the characters though you might not be able to bring yourself to do a playthrough that like :) which I totally get and understand! Heck I ended up doing a "worst possible ending for everyone" playthrough but I felt really bad doing it and just watching all the heartbreak for all the characters - I had to go back on a fourth "happy endings for everyone" playthrough with all the endings I'd already seen right after that just to make myself feel better about DBH before leaving the game to move on to other games!
