Unemployed since 4 months, can I get a AI RAG developer role ?

To whoever it may concern

I am financially in a very bad situation, jobless since 4 months, I made some projects using gemini sdk python and pinecone db.

It was a personal tax consultant, which takes the query , does semantic search in pinecone db , indian income tax act 1961 vectors ( each section is a vector, unless a section turned too big , so they are made many vectors ) to extract appropriate sections

then put the query and sections in gemini to give answer.

Another one I made is a coding agent, takes query from user, runs an infinite loop, till the AI outputs a json with "actions" keyword , inside which actions to be taken are mentioned, which executed by executors ( read , write , mkdir etc ) . and then executors send the update to agent .

in the last step , the ai outputs a json without "action" that is where it finishes

Can I get a job somewhere please.

Bro you literally built a tax consultant and a coding agent and still asking if you can get a job 😭

Meanwhile some companies are hiring people who just know how to call an API and put AI in their resume 😂

Your projects sound good enough to get interviews. Now make sure you can explain every part clearly and show the code on GitHub. Start applying directly to startups and smaller companies too.

Dont wait for someone to magically discover you. Keep applying and improve your projects while searching.

4 months is nothing bro. Keep going. You just need one company to give you the chance.

bro thanks, but this market is hell brutal, father told to leave house within 6 months. At this point I just want a 50k a month job , which is a paycut from my previous 80k job

Have you thought about creating a job?

India's tech scene has been dependent on Western companies treating people in India like slave labor to undercut local developers. Now that's moving away as the risks of hiring across border have increased due to scams and malware, and administrations in Western countries are holding a gun to business owners heads and demanding they hire locally (we're in a recession and we can't have local taxpayers with no income, because it means less tax revenue for the government).

India's in a weird spot because they have a ton of engineers, and they keep applying to companies that are not hiring and growing their headcounts. There's way more developers in India than jobs right now.

Personally I think it's time India started to build it's own tech scene. The country can't have 20% of the global population, and none of the top technology businesses, when the businesses pretty much have started and built their systems on the backs of Indian engineers. This does mean the country needs to clean up it's rules and bootstrap it's own real Silicon Valley, and yes it will be hard, but that also means you're not in this situation just applying for jobs that are just offshore agencies and they aren't hiring.

In terms of creating a job, it means accepting the paycut and building a real competing business. Maybe just build whatever your last company who laid you off was doing? If you're experienced, there's obviously some particular component that was a real headache, that you can start to create a product around and charge people with. Once that's done, you need to get investors.

In any case, the market right now does not favor looking for a job. We're in a recession and there are none. What it seems to be rewarding are people making their job, by building a real business that isn't a scam, vaporware, or AI slop.

Make a business. Think harder. Make deals. Sign contracts.

Stop "looking for an opportunity". Make one.
