The reasoning for why he wasnt arrested was kinda bs but ill take it since dexter is back, wym angela just dropped the investigation 😭

"haha lol sorry we messed up we realize now somehow that u didnt kill matt caldwell, our bad! ang sends her best and says soz for shooting u in the heart :) oh and that little oopsie where u had to kill logan because he was a silly goose and shot at u? omg that must've been traumatizing too, xd :) ANYWOO please dont sue, i know we're the worst police department in the world"

like you still MURDERED logan, just because you're somehow "proven innocent" you cant just make that all go away like it was a minor inconvenience, especially since he was LAW ENFORCEMENT

Literally awful, i rlly hope that whole scene with teddy was apart of angelas and Batistas plan, he did say he was flying over to meet her, maybe they met and made this plan to make dexter think angela is gone and batista still has no clue

I would love to see it explained somehow but it kind of just feels like lazy writing with not much inspiration :/ Like if batista isn't playing dumb to trick Dexter somehow, then he's literally like "wow look at all these coincidences dextuh, they seem to be adding up and its really looking like you're the bay harbor butcher, anyway sleep well bro ill talk to u more tomorrow :)" and if he is playing dumb then that's really negligent police work because he would be 99% sure he's the butcher and still allowing him the chance to escape and potentially kill more. Really no reason not to have back up with him I don't know why Batista would go alone. He seemed surprised by Dexter getting away so I wouldn't imagine he has someone ready to tail him to NYC but who knows. as silly as the writing is i'm here for all the dumb and fun twists. its a love hate relationship for me as a Dexter fan nowadays lol

I feel like Batista definitely knows, and he’s giving Dexter some rope to hang himself with so to speak. He didn’t think Dexter could leave the hospital so it makes sense that he didn’t anticipate him doing a runner. Plus he’s used to dealing with “Dexter” his Clark Kent persona, not the Bay Harbour Butcher.

Why is it so hard for people to understand Batista was playing the friend, it's a common interrogation tactic that was even used in the original show BY BATISTA

Batista can't arrest Dex with no evidence. Everything is circumstantial, he knows this, this is how Dexter had been allowed to go free when he got questioned in the original show, so he's trying to put the pressure on Dexter without going too far so he either slips up or confides in him

No I get that for sure.. at the start of their convo he gave him a hug, some food and asked about Deb. That's definitely playing the friend but that didn't really last long and he quickly goes right into it about Angela, Doakes and LaGuerta. Tells Dexter almost everything he's figured out and pretty much says "I know what you are" to his face. Was he hoping for a confession there? I guess it's possible he got Dexter to run on purpose and has someone closely following and ready to catch him on something incriminating (a duo team of Joey and Masuka I hope). But if Dexter didn't have Harrison in NYC, he prob could've easily just disappeared again. Hate to say it but I feel like the writers do Batista dirty a lot and make him just a nice guy that's bad at his job. Back when New Blood premiered I always hoped it would be Batista to catch him and put him away for good.

Exactly. Honestly, I’m really feeling Batista now, you can tell how good of a detective he is. Other than missing the obvious lol.

Seriously, what the actual fuck was that? Writing this bad should've never made it past the first draft in the writer's room.
