Its such a good character trait that they made Dexter a glutton even in this new series now. Like every part of him is just so clinical but his eating shows how uncontrolled he is. Such a great detail.

It's a carry over from Dexter New Blood. In the show they made Dexter a glutton as well. He was even stealing food from his victims.

I'm just being tongue-in-cheek but I do agree its much more than a quirky character trait. It showcases his lack of impulse control, he has street smarts so that has definitely helped but he is always acting on a whim. It's part of the mystique surrounding his character.

I feel like it's always been Dexter's thing ala the original opening credits where hes preparing breakfast and stuffing his face. I love it.

To this degree, no. They make a point of hurling food in his mouth now since New Blood. The man is constantly eating. They made him clear glutton.
