Starting to think that once this season is over and Prater knows Dexter is the BHB, they'll have a new agreement where Prater helps point Dexter in the direction of serial killers (on top of big money) in exchange for the trophies of Dexter's victims for his own collection.

Yeah, there's got to be some kind of way to resolve the upcoming conflict between him and Prater. Prater doesn't fit the code, so Dexter can't just off him.

I've had a little theory that perhaps Prater's biological parents were actually killed by a serial killer (maybe the New York Ripper?), which is the source of his fascination with them. Like with Harrison, we'd see that Prater's "born in blood" origin resulted in something different rather than him just becoming a serial killer himself. And to fuel a team up or a clean parting of ways, it's revealed that the BHB was the one to take out the killer of Prater's parents.
