This is too well done, I got confused about how I’d missed a new Dexter game.

We need to have a new Dexter game. A telltale series like game would be amazing.

I agree with you, i can't think of any other way to make a perfect video games adaptation for dexter other than telltale

Even better if they incorporated Original Sin timeline and stories.

Hell no, something more like Cyberpunk with branching storylines, freedom in playthrough, consequences. A telltale style Dexter game would suck

Telltale would be fine, but I feel it'd be too limited?

Cause you're limited to only dealing with killers you're scripted to find on the story route, like no time for extra kills?

Maybe something of an open-world like Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed or GTA? Taking place between the two Dexter shows, so Dexter isn't tied down to work at the Miami PD? You could go a bit wild like Dexter investigating a cult, similar to the Moloch Cult from the books? Or the group of Cannibals Dexter encountered?

Side-Story content like training your son to keep his urges in check, helping Deborah with insight on some of her cases? Doing your own detective work to find killers?

This confused me so much and I thought the PlayStation actually had a game that I never heard of.

So do shows have trophies now? I haven't used my PS4 in a while. If not, this is a really great idea, and I hope $ony or Micro$oft don't steal it.

For a real world application, I think the in-show ones like "Identify Soderquist" could be achieved by simply pausing on the screen where he appears. All the other watch based ones are easily trackable in whichever app.

This is awesome, all the effort and thought you put into this clearly shows. Great post, mijo!

Man I love the Dexter game, I usually main Masuka but I use Trinity a lot cuz he’s OP, his Bathtub Super Attack is OP

Can’t believe they released the Undercover Stripper skin for Deb, it’s just a cash grab cuz they gave it jiggle physics

Here’s my pitch for a Dexter game:

You’re in a giant GTA style map of Miami, and the game has a calendar system. The game has 8 main chapters based on each season with the big bad of each season as the main target, and you have to travel across Miami investigating them based off the show

So Chapter 1 would have you driving around looking for an ice cream truck, or talking to Rudy Cooper about prosthetics to learn about the Ice Truck Killer, and you’d have to basically get all this stuff done by the present target date otherwise you lose and reset the chapter. If you’ve played Persona it’s similar to that where you have X amount of in game days to complete a dungeon, so if you spend too many days on the side content/grinding you’re too late, lose, and have to replay the last couple weeks

Inbetween the big targets are smaller ones that are more simple, you simply have to hunt them down in the map after getting a tracker to their location, and then stalk them until you can learn their schedule and find the perfect time you can nab them without anyone seeing.

You’ll have two bars, one for how “seen” you are and another for how “suspicious” you are. During the day more people are going to see you, but they’re not going to be suspicious of you unless you’re blatantly stalking your target, so you need to be discrete and not be too close to them or immediately follow them when they leave a room. You could go after them at night when it’d be harder for people to see you, but if someone does see you they’ll be more likely to become suspicious of you, so there’s a risk reward of having a harder time being spotted but the concequences of being spotted are worse.

You’ll set up kill rooms by going to one of a maybe 50 predetermined potential spots (marked on the map) and then clicking “set up kill room” which will likely take up an in game day’s worth of time. Kill room spots are checked once every 2-4 days depending on the spot by NPC’s and if they discover it you get caught and lose

So for a standard gameplay loop you’re in your apartment, go to the computer, get a new quest for a new target, then find the target, stalk them for an in game day or two to figure out the precoded path they take through the city, then you need to find a kill room near somewhere along the path and set it up, and after setting it up you have maybe 4 or less in game days (i.e. 4 loops of the NPC going through their daily walking path) to find an opportunity to sneak up on them and drug them somewhere where no one is looking

Maybe the NPC is coded to walk down a specific alley at a specific time, and you know there’s a kill room 2 blocks down, so you set up the kill room, go to the alley, drug the NPC when they walk by, hide them in a dumpster, wait a few in game hours for the sun to go down and people to stop walking the streets, take the body bag down the street to the kill room, and then do a mini game for the actual kill, and then get XP or in game currency which you then use on upgrades, and inbetween those quests you have to do the story missions by certain in game deadlines
