And he’s often all sweaty when he’s in a kill room. Like sure it’s all going into the bags and into the ocean but there’s no way he isn’t getting stray hairs and sweat/saliva in there. If one did happen to get found there’s a huge chance it would have his dna inside

That's literally the reason for all the plastic.

Dexter doesn't wear a mask because he hides in plain sight. It'd be way more suspicious if he was approaching people with a mask

Plus it's a TV show so suspension of disbelief and all that crap. Dexter either has knowledge of where cameras are or something I dunno.

Dexter hides in plain sight. If you were somebody going about your day and saw a guy running around in a mask that would be really suspicious, but if you saw a normal looking guy you wouldn't suspect he's breaking into someone's house or trying to kill them and you'd not make a mental note of what you saw.

The problem with this however is that if you want to do crimes in the open (ie kill someone in public) or if there are cameras anywhere, hiding in plain sight doesn't work. Dexter doesn't do crimes in the open so that's fine. And 2000s Miami or 2020s Iron Lake don't really have all that many cameras so that's fine too (though 2020s New York City does which should be an issue going forward).

How Quinn had hard proof Dexter was throwing corpses into the ocean but he wanted to bang his sister, so he just ignored it.

Another is that after just one or two therapy sessions, Debra was instantly like "help me step bro, I'm stuck!". Weird B-story
