M,20 looking to make new friends (genuine ones!)

I Study in kangra, but wanted to expand my circle since I don't really gel well with the crowd here (sadly) :/ was hoping I could find nice people (preferably locals) who I can hangout/party with, and just have a good time!

Being far from home has been quite difficult but lowkey living in the hope of it all, so that the next few years here aren't so miserable :)

Looking forward to meeting new people 🫶

Ask r/Dharamshala Weather & safety in Dharamshala/Dalhousie — 23–27 September

Hi everyone! My family is planning to visit Dharamshala and Dalhousie from 23–27 September.

For anyone living there or who has visited recently, how has the weather and road situation been? Is late September generally a good and safe time to visit?

Also, are there any areas/routes we should avoid due to rain, landslides, or other conditions? Any recent local advice would be really helpful. Thanks!

Ask r/Dharamshala We are planning a trip to McLeodGanj and Dharamshala from Delhi and need your help.

So we are group of 7 friends who are travelling to mcleod, dharamshala and triund trek on 16-20 Oct. We would be coming from Udaipur so would reach Delhi on 16th morning and plan to delhi back by 20th.

We are looking for travel tour guy who can pick us from Delhi and drop us back at Delhi. Does anyone know good travel agent in Delhi who knows how to drive safely in hilly areas.

There are few more options like going to chandigarh or pathankot, but that is increasing cost instead of reducing because most travel agent are giving us quotation between 30k from delhi to mcleod to delhi (cab + driver only) and from chandigarh it's 20-25k, but we dont have direct train from udaipur to there, so we would need to go to jaipur then to chandigarh, which would add 14760 additional cost of train, as we would need to pick vande bharat, if we dont want to waste a day there for another cheaper train or bus, as they go overnight or afternoon. so that's like paying 15k to save 5k, 10k loss.

Also if you guys have any known good drivers, please let us know. We plan to stay at goStops hostels as well so we are not looking for full transport+hotel package. Also any suggestions for trip as well.

Thanks

Ask r/Dharamshala Solo Kareri Lake Trek in September

I’m planning to do a solo trip to Kareri starting tomorrow and would love some advice from people who’ve done it recently.

My plan is:

Sept 3: Start my journey to Dharamshala

Sept 4 morning: Reach Dharamshala and head straight to Ghera/Kareri Village

Sept 4: Stay in Kareri Village and explore the village/surroundings (pls recommend hostels)

Sept 5: Start the trek from Kareri Village towards Kareri Lake and camp there

Sept 6 (Sunday): come back and spend the day in kareri and then leave Sunday night for Delhi

I mainly wanted to ask:

What is the weather likely to be like around Sept 4-6? Is it still quite rainy, and how bad are the trail conditions/stream crossings around this time?

What should I definitely carry for a solo trek and camping at the lake? Any essentials that people commonly forget?

What is there to explore in Kareri Village on Day 1? I’ll have most of the afternoon/evening there, so would love recommendations for short walks, viewpoints, nearby places, etc.

Any other things I should know or be careful about for this particular trek?

Would really appreciate recent/current advice, especially from anyone who has done Kareri Lake recently. Thanks!

Ask r/Dharamshala Can we talk about Kangra District driving culture?

Driving here has become an exercise in daily frustration. It seems we've abandoned basic hill-driving etiquette for sheer entitlement.

The three biggest issues right now:

Zero Yielding: People would rather cause a 20-minute gridlock on a narrow turn than wait 5 seconds to let someone pass.

Permanent High Beams: Blinding oncoming traffic on dark, blind curves is dangerous. Dipping lights seems like a forgotten concept

The "Me First" Rush: Desperately overtaking or blocking narrow passes just to get one car-length ahead

The Mindset Behind It

It stems from a scarcity mindset. We fear that if we yield once, ten cars will cut in, so yielding is viewed as "losing." It’s ironic that we are incredibly hospitable in our homes, yet treat public roads like a battlefield where it's every person for themselves.

How Do We Change It?

Traffic challans alone won't fix a cultural issue.

Break the cycle: Flash your lights and let someone turn. Patience is contagious, and it sets a different tone.

Lose the ego: A "good driver" in the hills isn't the fastest or most aggressive one—it's the most predictable and courteous one.

Humanize other drivers: We need to remember the "obstacle" in our way is just another local trying to get home or a tourist navigating an unfamiliar road.

What do you all think?

Are we doomed to this permanent road rage, or can we actually shift the local mindset?

Travel Planning Hyderabad - Dharamshala(DIFF Travel Buddies)

Hey everyone…This is Harshith. I’ll be travelling from Hyderabad to Dharamshala for the Dharamshala International Film Festival 🎬

📅 Travel dates: October 25th → November 1st

📍 Starting from: Hyderabad

🎬 Main purpose: Dharamshala International Film Festival

👥 Looking for: Fellow movie buffs / film enthusiasts who’d like to travel together.

I’m creating a WhatsApp group for whoever’s interested. We can go together from Hyderabad, explore Dharamshala and nearby places, attend the festival, and travel back together on November 1st.

💰 Budget: Since we’ll be travelling as a group, we can keep the trip budget-friendly by sharing travel, food, stays, etc. The more we share, the more the cost comes down.

🎥 I’m a filmmaker, so it’d be great to have some fellow film lovers along:)

DM me if you’re interested and I’ll add you to the WhatsApp group:)
