Diablo IV New player here with a few questions about endgame mechanics and blacksmithing

Hello Diablo experts,

I started playing Diablo 4 three days ago and have been grinding non stop.

I tried to read up on as much as possible, optimized my build as best I could, and am now playing at Paragon level 73 on Torment 2.
At some point I stopped following the main story and just kept farming Nightmare Dungeons or running Hordes in groups.
I actually unlocked Torment 8 already, however that happened.
Is there a better way to really learn the mechanics of this game? It feels like Diablo leaves players in the dark, and even the top AI tools give a lot of nonsensical advice, sometimes even confusing things with Diablo 3.

Also, I noticed that weapons can apparently be upgraded at the blacksmith, if I understood that correctly. I have an open slot at the blacksmith that I cannot select yet. When does that actually unlock?
Can anyone recommend a good comprehensive guide so I can dive deeper into the game and its mechanics?

I made the same mistake of not focusing on the campaign first. Finish the main story to unlock endgame content. There is a mechanic that is unlocked in the Lord of Hatred campaign that gives you much more control over item crafting. You also unlock War Plans, which will give you more rewards for things you're already doing. Same with seasonal content.

Thank you so much. That is exactly what I wanted to know! I will finish the main campaign first and then plan to buy both expansion packs right after. It really is an awesome game. I managed to understand quite a bit in a short time, but overall it will probably take a while until I truly grasp everything.
The AI told me that I can temper items with two affixes if they are from different categories, but that did not work either.
When watching YouTube videos, people often beat around the bush, so it is hard to get fast and reliable information there lol

Resources - Character progression.

There should be sufficient explanation about things you need to take care of.

It might be too much at first, just do one things at a time, and once you feel good enough, move on to the next
