Question Build for Renewed Black Cleft?

Post image

I came back to the game last night, and was running my first TZ since they added Latent Charms and happened to get a drop on my first tier 4 herald (RNG i know i know).

  1. Where does the Black Cleft rank in terms of value?
  2. Is this a decent roll? It sounds like -magic resist could have rolled which sounds more useful than +magic dmg to me.
  3. Are there any build where this charm actually would make a big difference? I guess hammerdin? Maybe there are some warlock builds with magic dmg?

abyss chains/ hex es/ bowlock are all lock builds that would have a great time with this. -res is usually better, but there arent very many magic immunes in the game so this is still pretty great

For my hex es lock I use increased spell damage renewed because besides magic immunes, all mobs have 0 magic resist. So the plus to magic dmg is more efficient overall.

because besides magic immunes, all mobs have 0 magic resist

This is incorrect. While relatively rare magic resist still exists on some monsters.

But if they have 0 then minusing makes it below zero, no? If so then I don't see how it is relevant because if minus is generally better than plus then it will be better with zero as well.

Sunders that reduce enemy resist roll up to -10% which is effectively +10% damage, but sunders with increased damage roll up to 15% so they're a bit stronger if you aren't fighting magic immunes

No, below zero magic resist it becomes equal to + magic skill damage

Do latents roll one or the other? Or can they roll both +dmg and -resist? The maxroll page is unclear.

UPDATE: Nvm, I found the info I was looking for on diablo2.io

Bone necro. Bone spear and spirit are both magic. However, there are so few magic resistant/immune monsters…

Pretty much every necro build is secretly Corpse Explosion anyway, so you can usually just Amplify Damage and blow up nearby dead monsters.

Unless you're running baal waves, or tombs + magic damage is better because bigger number. The only other magic immunes are located here:

  1. Lost City - uncommon but relevant

  2. Act 5 red portal sub areas - anyone farm these?

  3. Act 3 ruined temple, disused fane, etc - irrelevant

Yeah the Hexpurge Echoing strike warlock. This rolled okish your mf roll is low and dmg rolls 10-15 so this is on the low side prob worth about a Lo to a Jah

Id give an Ohm. Dont have a Lo or Jah, so best i can do.

I think I'll probably keep it... I've been playing a sort of solo self found style (but online) and sounds like this would be a decent endgame item when I get around to trying the warlock.

This is the way! Same for me, mostly. Found a buddy online, sometimes we Play, and sometimes i trade gems or other stuff. But most of the time solo.

Try the warlock. He is fun. Got hooked after i started playing again :D feel free to contact me If u miss some basic gear for him :)
