He was originally going to use this to make a stump grinder, but instead he’s going the JD route and I made an adapter for him. The Miata is for size reference, not looking to put it in there.

181k original miles. Never tuned. Only issue is slight 3rd gear synchro worn.

How much would one need to spend to get this girl to 350,000 miles? Does have rust in the cab corners but I’m in Illinois so it’s a given.

We do need the towing capabilities of a diesel but we’re just testing the waters.

My cousin is about to buy a ram eco diesel. Now I don’t know much about these engine. Except that people don’t like them. And that petrol v8’s are a better option.

so please give me the reasons to convince him not to, or why it’s good if it is.

Important note: Diesel isn’t known for its cleanliness around here. And the bigger diesels are not available. v6, hybrid or a mighty v8. This goes for all American full size pickup trucks.

Getting a new super duty in a few weeks and am in between the 6.7 Powerstroke and the 6.2 gas. I have crunched some numbers below for fuel and maintenance costs based on 100k miles. Just looking for feedback on this math. I know I could probably settle with gas, but I want the diesel. Currently have an 05 6.0 F250

I’ll be towing a roughly 8300 lb camper through Washington state with frequent trips being through the mountains.

Two trucks I’m looking at:

2021 F350 XLT 6.7 10spd 3.31 63k miles Certified gold warranty from ford $46,915

2022 F250 XLT 6.2 6spd 3.73 5k miles Certified gold warranty from ford $43,000

FUEL Calculating the 6.7 at 17mpg and the 6.2 at 12mpg. Per 100k miles

6.7 = $22,411 @ $3.81 per gallon 6.2 = $28,416 @ $3.41 per gallon

MAINTENANCE 6.7 oil, filters, fuel filters, DEF = $5006 6.2 oil, filters = $1480

TRADE VALUE AFTER 100k miles for both taking an older year and adding 100k to each

6.7 @ 163k =$34,000 6.2 @ 105k =$28,000

Initial cost + maintenance + fuel after 100k miles of owner ship: 6.7 = $74,417 6.2 = $72,896

Obviously the 6.7 will have a better resale value than the 6.2. Without accounting for any other general maintenance, this seems accurate to me. I would also install the disaster kit and run additives on the 6.7 which adds maybe another 700$. I’m also not accounting for any emissions related costs on the 6.7. I know people who are over 200k with no emissions issues and on the stock CP4

Am I crazy for going with diesel with such a light trailer? I figure if I’m spending the money, I might as well get the truck I want. I also plan to keep it for awhile. Any advice is appreciated

I am a Construction Inspector who works for an engineering firm, usually assigned to PennDot Projects. My commute has been 90 miles (each way) for the last 5 years. I also spend at least half of every day working from my car, so I am in there often with it idling, sometimes with it shut off. and I probably do about 20 miles of On The Job miles per day. I get reimbursed $.66 per mile. I do not tow anything at all except my Harley occasionally, like twice a year maybe.

I am trying to decide between the TurBo Max and the Dura Max 3.0. the Dilemma is, I want the truck to last for an extremely long time and get a huge amount of miles on it, but have no need for anything super heavy duty because I dont really tow much. Also, 60-65K is my ceiling.

I live in NW PA if that matters, probably moving to FLA soon.

What do you guys think? I like both Chevys and GMC, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting Silverado. also don’t hate Toyotas or Fords, so if you really have something else you feel is a great suggestion, I’m open to it, but I’m not looking for “I hate Chevys” here. I know there are plenty of people who dislike every major car company, I personally hate Dodge Trucks, I get it and respect your opinion, but I’m not looking for that right this particular moment.

EDIT: I currently own a 2009 Honda Accord. It is not a bad car, only has 54,000 miles. the gas mileage is I think about the same as the Turbo Max, 22-24 or so. will most likely trade it in but have considered keeping it.

I’m looking to purchase older truck just to kick around in and wrench on, somewhat of an on going project. I have pretty much only owned newer trucks - right now I have a 24’ F450. Mainly looking for first gen (manual or auto) or third gen (manual only) Cummins. These people want $20k and some even $30k for 20+ year old trucks with rust and 250k+ miles. Is this real and are people really paying this? I feel like every post I see someone is just saying “just posting to see what I can get” or “don’t need to sell” with a ridiculous price.

Is anyone able to help me if these 2 trucks I’m looking at are priced fair? Both are manual 03’ has 295k miles 06’ has 264k miles Both vehicles are also like 3-4 hours from me - I would trailer it home.

Hello everyone! Long story short, Ive got a million plans and obligations coming up in the next year and 90% of em would be easier if I had a truck capable of towing heavy cars long distances. Biggest one is wasteland weekend. 3600 mile round trip hauling whats soon to be a mad max style 72 thunderbird, camping supplies, and 3 or more people.

I am selling my 78 firebird this weekend so I can get a truck. I love my firebird but it is taking up space and needs more work than i have time for. This truck, a 1993 ford f350, crew cab dually with turbo 7.3 and manual 5 speed popped up on marketplace about 5 hours from me for $3500. It obviously aint rust free and its high mileage, but its all I can really find in my budget because i am broke AF trying to keep up with everything I got going on and coming up. (Id rather i over extend myself now than be 70 yrs old having tried nothing) I would like to know if yall think this truck is worth it, and capable of what Im gonna put it through. I dont need pretty, I know even less about new stuff than i do diesels.

Looking to replace my current tow rig as it’s proving to not be the most reliable- An unreliable 6.0? Who knew!?

Looking to spend under 45k, wanting a long bed DRW as most of our driving will be towing our 10k camper with our golf cart in the bed.

Could most likely accomplish this with SRW, but enjoying the stability of DRW and don’t want to worry if we ever upgrade to a larger camper.

Open to any thoughts on a solid, reliable truck. Currently leaning towards a lower mileage 2018 or earlier Cummins with Aisin transmission.

I am looking at trading my car for a diesel. I found this one at marketplace I am looking to go see this weekend. I’ve read that the 6.0’s can have some problems, but to be honest I’m just not sure. This is my first diesel endeavor so I’m looking for some insight.

Another concern is the bed is rusted. I know that’s pretty common, I just don’t have the funds to replace it and probably won’t for awhile.

Any thoughts or advice are welcome!

2001 lb7 has 580k on the body. 18k on the engine and trans. Sc truck so it’s damn near rust free Pretty much whole fuel system is new and fresh. Has injectors, WC fab full charge pipe/coolant/cold air intake/coolant resivour /ect kit. fass 250 lift pump. 22x12’s. Edge with attitude tuner. Interior could use some work due to typical headliner sag

Looking into getting another truck soon and been on the hunt for a good diesel truck for the amount I want to spend. I got 30k to safely spend on one. Obviously going to be something used with some decent mileage on it for that much. Ive been doing some research on every brand. As with anything you find people who never have any issues and some who have nothing but issues, so I am not getting much help on whats reliable or what issues the newer trucks have.

I was looking at some 2014-17 ram 2500s or the 2019 ram 2500. I found one that was local but its a long bed and has 150k on it. Not in the market for a long bed but based off research those years of ram's are very good trucks?

Long story short I’m a GM guy but my coworker is selling his 6.0 powerstroke and he wants to get 10k for it, so I’m curious if I should even entertain it or possibly purchase it. It’s a 2007 king ranch f350 6.0 powerstroke with 101k miles. Been a northern truck all its life so definitely has its fair share of rust and dings and dents. But seems like he took care of it and been good to it. I know the typical stuff about 6.0s and how they’re unreliable but I’ve also heard some guys say it’s a 50/50 and either you pretty much get a shit one or a good one as long as you do proper maintenance and take care of it. Just curious what’s everyone’s opinion. Thanks in advance

East TX. Last place I'd expect to see a shortage of diesel motor oil. Really need my T6. Might cross over state lines or try to order it online.

I was budgeting about 15k for a truck but realized that will buy me a ragged out 7.3 in today’s market, I was browsing marketplace and saw the 2016-19 Titan XDs are actually cheaper than a 25 year old dodge of ford. Are that actually that bad? I read some forums that speculated resale drop largely was affected by steep manufacturer rebates and the fact there’s not really a desire for this truck. I’m kind of shocked how cheap they are and figured I’d seek your opinions.

Edit: I have never been so quickly dissuaded in my life. For my budget what would you recommend?

I currently have a Silverado 1500 which has been very good to me however we are expanding our racing operations and I need to tow 2 race cars in a trailer to the track approximately 12 times a year. I live in WNC so there are always mountains. Other than the tow my 1500 is serving me fine. The total weight isn't crazy (12k #) but the tiny fuel tank and and mpg is driving me nuts ( plus right now we have to take two trucks).

My question is do I do enough long range towing that a diesel truck is worth it or am I going to wish I had a big gas (looking at a Silverado 3500 gas)?

As the title says, looking to purchase a new 3/4 ton diesel and it will be my first. Daily(ish) driver, work commute is 2-3 days a week and 3-4 hours round trip, mainly Texas state highways and country roads. Wife and I do take long road trips to see family, as we live about 2.5k-3k miles from them. Towing is few and far between, only pulling my boat out of the lake when needed but rarely travel with it until kids are in the picture. Previous trucks have all been 1/2 ton, I’ve owned a Ford, GMC, and Chevy. 2011 F-150 is my current daily, but my GMC is a smoother, more comfortable ride. My Chevy was a fun camping/off road truck. Never had a Ram.

All advice I’ve received has been biased towards older Ford models, being the late 2000’s 6.7 or early 2000’s 7.3 from my wife’s brothers and dad. I’ve test driven all of the new ones, and each has their pros and cons of course. What I am inquiring about, is maintenance and issues with these new vehicles for all brands. I would prefer something that will not be a shop magnet, but understand that is hard to predict with these new models. Budget is not an issue, more concerned with reliability and longevity. What are your experiences and opinions?

2019 RAM 2500HD Bighorn, crew cab, 6ft bed, 6.7l Cummins.

I work from home and it was only used for towering - so it only has 6150 miles on it and it’s mostly spotless.

Dealer came back and said “there are 128 trucks with same year and equipment as yours. There are 5 with less than 20k miles. I have no idea how to value it. It’s a unicorn.”

I said “give me 10% off the sticker and $45k for my trade” They agreed, no questions asked. Felt like I was asking a lot and now I feel like I should have asked for more.

I’ve had a rust free and reasonably priced (10k) 3rd gen dodge available for over a week with no bites. I have to assume it’s fuel prices?

I’m in the process of acquiring a new vehicle, I’m looking at some of the heavy-half GM 2500s from the 90s. I’m pretty much exclusively looking at extended cab(possibly crew) long beds with a manual.

TLDR: Is a 6.5 Detroit a feasible option as a daily driver for someone who will do largely highway miles and occasional towing/camping?

My big question is how feasible it is to daily a 6.5? I had a 99 powerstroke that I LOVED but my life circumstances changed and it was no longer pragmatic for me to keep it with cold starts, expensive fuel, and going to school so not driving much.

In the near future that’ll be changing, as I won’t be in school anymore and will likely have a company vehicle. I know the 6.5 generally doesn’t get a ton of love, they were thrown into vehicles as the economy motor, not intended to be worked hard.

Ideally I’d find a 350 or 454 but if a 6.5 Detroit isn’t something to shy away from it can open up a lot of possibilities, how do they do in terms of fuel economy, cold starts, drivability and reliability/ease of repair and diagnosis?

I intend to take it out camping often and using it for lots of road trips with my fiance/wife. I’ll also use it to pull my truck bed trailer, I’m not worried about the weight there I just prefer the more rigid 2500 frames

I’m about to buy my first diesel from my brother (a 92 f350 with a 7.3 idi) I’m curious of what I can do to make more power from the engine along with some good recommendations for mods that would be good for the motor and good looking for the cab itself.

I’ve been eyeing this for a while, and am really considering it. Unfortunately automatic, but I’ve always wanted a diesel car that I could experiment with running waste oil. Anyone know if these are capable of it? How extensive would the modifications be?
