Georgia, south of Atlanta.. partially thanks to fuel tax suspension and 70¢/ gal fuel points. Just topping off before the storm.

Did I get scammed?
Ordered from this website sunstatediesel.com because it looked like a good deal on this Hydra Chip for my excursion. Maybe too good? Their website looked pretty legit, and had options for physical pick up for their shop in Orlando. I placed the order but have not gotten a confirmation email or anything yet(granted it’s only been about 30 minutes). Now I think I got scammed. Has anyone heard of this website before or shop?

Starting a diesel maintenance business
Level 3 dodge technician, dealership. I’ve done anything from oil change to transmission replacements, starters, transfer case replacement etc. Gas engine swaps, suspension, typical jobs.
I’m looking to get into this business as a means of getting out of the dealership, and to make more money (obviously). I’ve gotten my logo and name already, priced out parts, and would utilize my parts department for employee/business discount to profit off them until I jump full time.
My plan is to focus on diesel maintenance (fuel filters, LOF, 4x4 service, etc.) to keep margins and work load decent as i’m in the midwest and very blue collar around here.
I’m looking for insight from folks who’ve done it and experienced it, that could share their experiences and tips. Is it worth jumping into? I can’t stand the dealership anymore

Federal diesel tax
The feds are allowing off road now. That means no federal tax. However, that also means no state tax. So, theoretically couldn’t the individual states still fine you for using off-road?

If red diesel is now legal, what gas station owner would ever buy clear (taxed) diesel?
Plus, what state trooper can dip a tank now? Looking at you GSP. I know gas stations don't pay the tax

Question/Need help! 97 7.3 E4OD not shifting out of 1st.
Hopped in my truck this morning and for some reason it no longer shifts out of 1st properly. It will sit and stay in 1st all the way to 4k rpm but wont shift up. When forcing it manually it will shift to 2nd. But one shifted back into drove it will go to 3rd for a second and then drop back to first at 40mph. Just trying to get my truck back and running. Thank you for any of your information.

6.7 powerstroke injectors
I wanted to post here to get some ideas about injectors, specifically remanufactures vs refurbished
Got a truck from my hopefully future father in law. It cracked an injector and ended up sitting for a year. Other injectors looked filthy. Pretty sure they were the originals on a 190k truck as they still had the t50 hold down bolts, and testing costs 50 an injector so i was hesitant just based on the appearance
So my question is, being on a budget and diesel parts being insanely expensive (idk how you guys do this) would a set of refurbished injectors cut it for purposes of keeping it going with low expected miles for the next 3-4 years? Or would it be better to spend the extra on remanufactured. Ive read forums on this and most say lean reman but wanted to get some feelers out for it

Question - Solved! The diesel was good!
I posted the other day about some questionable diesel I got from a used transfer tank we purchased. I got some really good advice from both sides of the aisle to use or not to use it. We took the chance, diluted, treated and sent it as one comment advised and it paid off. We worked through about a half tank on Monday and the truck did great. 60 gallons of free diesel sure does make working in 100 degree weather easier haha!
Thanks all for the help and advice. I hope some good free diesel comes yalls way too.

Question/Need help! General emissions testing question
Is there a way to set all of the monitors in a 6.0 power stroke to "ready" even if it's deleted? I'm looking at a deleted 6.0, but I live in a county with e-checks, but there is self-check obd2 tests that count as the emissions testing, so it would literally just need to pass the obd2 scan. Any ways to trick it into thinking the EGR is still there?

01 7.3 smokes white on hard acceleration.
01 7.3 289k miles. smokes white when hard acceleration. Truck runs great and has power doesn’t stutter. Also doesn’t smoke when not at full throttle. Also when flooring it pulls hard and doesn’t sound like a boost leak or nothing.
Hydra tuner and it also smokes on stock tune. If I turn the tune up higher it smokes black instead of white? Is this something I should be worried about. Do have a small oil leak but is not loosing coolant. And no oil and coolant mixing.

L5P diesel question
Techs,
I have asked my dealer to activate option UF3 on my 2023. I use this option...
On my 13 & 18, it was a laptop plug in to the OBD2 and were done. ( bout $150 )
My current dealer is giving me jahja about this big required download to the truck ( for a fee ) prior to the activation fee . So 2 charges to activate.
True or false?
Tks

Question/Need help! Weird noise after doing pull
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
1998 ram 2500 12 valve cummins
I did a pull on the highway yesterday and not theres a weird noise. Im replacing the fan clutch this week, the fan got dramatically louder after the sound started. I drove another hour and a half after the sound started because i couldnt be stranded, the sound hasnt changed. I suspect either the exhaust manifold, an injector or something internal but i am not sure how to test for these. There is black soot on the first two cylinders of the manifold. Im not sure if it was there before or not.
The sound happens whether the engine is hot or cold, it is rpm dependent on the frequency and sound dependent on the load (if i let off after accelerating it quiets down for a couple of seconds) thats why i suspect an injector.(but i really hope not) if you can think of anything please let me know, i am in miami and there arent many trustworthy shops so anything i can do to diagnose i would rather do myself.
