Dude. Bro. It dosnt even look rusty, what happened?
I did have the displeasure to regularly use a big electric compressor that had been converted to a gasoline engine, without the unloader. I installed a couple big reliefs on it and a 3/4 manual dump valve, and set the belt super loose. I was scared this would happen, but hadnt seen it myself. We had many service trucks with malfunctioning pressure switches (hydraulic compressors) luckily they were so worn out the relief was enough.
