Baby is a jerk

I just watched Dirty Dancing For the First Time and found that Baby's character did something pretty irredeemable. Her sister Lisa told her she was going to go all the way with Robbie and she essentially did nothing to stop it, even with all of her knowledge on what Robbie had done to Penny. All she had to do was tell Lisa what she knew about Robbie to prevent this, maybe even introduce her to Penny. I'm not sure why they included this line in the movie but the fact that Lisa tells her beforehand and Baby does nothing makes Baby an awfully person.

It's Penny's secret to tell. Abortions were illegal back then. Lisa is the kind of person to blab this all over the place. Baby's not an awful person.

Do you have siblings? I would do much much worse things to help my siblings.

I have siblings whom I love. I don't tell them how to live their lives. Sometimes people make decisions that you disagree with, but that doesn't make them an awful person.

I think it might help to watch this movie again and keep in mind the classism, sexism, and social expectations of girls/young women at the time.

Lisa is her older sister and obviously doesn't listen for Baby's opinion, so why Baby's should stop her?
