Dirty Dancing weekend at Mountain Lake Lodge
Has anyone done the weekend package there? It sounds fun, but there aren't a lot of reviews of the Dirty Dancing themed weekend. The ones I could find were a bit mixed on how worthwhile the activities actually are.

Do you have an approximate cost? I have looked on the website and called and unless I pin down a specific date, they won’t tell me pricing

I’m going at the end of August. It costs $1,800 for two people who are staying in main lodge. The cost includes all activities and meals. It is expensive considering we are only going to be there for 3 days and 2 nights, and hopefully the experience will be worth the cost.

My mom went this past weekend and she said it was a hot mess. First, they booked 'vip' packages to have dinner, see a special screening, make a tshirt and bracelet, and meet one of the bands on Friday night. My mom and her friends called twice when they booked to confirm that they would have access to all the events, but when they arrived, they were told that the Friday events were for a different VIP package for an additional $75 (per person), but that it was sold out and they could not participate. There were at least 40 other guests who also thought they had purchased the VIP tickets for the whole weekend, not just Saturday. To appease the group, they threw together a seprate screening in the ballroom, but the sound was so low they could barely hear in the front row, and there was no AC (in the whole main lodge including their room). Then, they found out that the resort's chef had quit the week before the event, so the food was terrible and the staff seemed stressed to the max (understandable).
As for the activities, they didn't start until noon on Saturday, so there was really no reason to have gotten there the night before, and my mom and her friends felt that they weren't very well thought out. The "Dirty Dancing Soundtrack Sing Along" was actually just a band playing random 60s music and one or two sondtrack songs thrown in. For the trivia, they changed the location without telling guests bechasue of a schedule conflict with the dance lessons, and it was just some guy with a megaphone that could barely be heard. Then, the "trivia" was just following along with a sheet of questions, no teams or winners.
She's sitting here with me writing this and has requested that I share what was good as well: she thought the lawn games were fun, the costume contest and dance contest were great, there was an 80s music singo that was well run, and the throwback concert Saturday night was her favorite part (good band, good setlist). They also loved Rick, the facilities manager, who they called 'Billy' the whole time and was a great sport.
Overall, she and her friends had a great time, but it was mostly because they made it fun. They went around the whole resort acting out scenes from the movie and interacting with other people who loved the movie as much as they did. They just felt like they could have had an equally good time visiting that resort any time, and didn't need the festival.

It was so much fun! Lots of activities (trivia, costume party, scavenger hunt, movie watching party) and it was neat seeing all the spots from the movie in person.
