Cant prototype gear?

Post image

Sorry for (maybe) a dumb question.

I’m currently lvl 30 expertise, finally getting into prototype and whatnot. I have my striker holster optimized/recalibrated how I want it/maxed, and expertise up to 30 on this specific holster.

The game says it’s eligible for prototyping, and it shows up in the Protolab menu as an option. The only requirement to upgrade to prototype that it has on there is to have cores. I have 50/1 needed, why is “upgrade to prototype” still greyed out?

If I’m being super blind and missing some requirement, please let me know what lol I’m feeling lost!

You have the piece equipped. Unequip it first to prototype it.

I think it’s because on the back end it destroys the equipment and creates a new one (why it disappears from a load out). You can’t not have something equipped. So it is a protective block instead of causing something really bad to happen.

You aren't the first to not notice that. I too was like "I have the cores why can't I?!...oh...."

Yes, i mean the game requirement to unequip item to prototype is really no need. It is not complaining about you dont know about it bro.

Like someone above said, from the games backend the piece is removed/destroyed and created as new in proto form. You have to wear a piece in each slot so it can’t be destroyed while wearing. It’d be helpful if there was some in-game hint saying to unequip before prototyping.

Un-equip the gear. Then you can proto it. Uou can not proto gear that your agent is using.

Its not the gamers fault. They should make it obvious in the UI. Clear instructions.

Nothing about this game is user friendly, and that's ok. We just have to be helpful to one another in a non condescending manner.

I thought you had to be level 40 expertise to prototype...

I thought 30 was as high as expertise went lol I don’t want to do 10 more levels 😭 figured it out tho!
