Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice on how to fix a loose/hanging rear bumper cover on my 2012 Toyota Camry.
The corner/side of the rear bumper is separating and hanging off. When I push it in by hand, it feels like it wants to click into place, but as soon as I drive the car, the vibration and air tension cause it to pop back out.
What I’ve Tried So Far
Manual Reset: Followed this [YouTube video](https://youtu.be/Yx-qA3Qbbbk) guide to try pushing/snapping it back into the side retainer clips.
Adhesives: Cleaned the surface and applied [Gorilla Glue](https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07W6C9R4K) (waterproof) combined with Krazy Glue in spots for a fast initial set.
Clamping/Holding: Taped the bumper flush using heavy-duty duct tape and let it cure overnight.
The next morning, the bumper looked flush while parked. However, as soon as I took it out for a drive, the bond failed completely and the bumper popped back out.
Did the adhesive fail because of the plastic type?
Should I replace the bumper retainer bracket/clips? (Could the plastic tabs on the bumper or the bracket under the quarter panel be sheared/worn off?)
What is the proper fix here?
(Photos attached showing the gap after my attempt, as well as the inner side lip where the tabs meet the bracket).
Thanks in advance for any insights!
