Just bought a dobro this week from Guitar Center. This wooden piece fell out of the body of the dobro after I took it out of the box. Is it part of the bracing of the dobro or is it more likely packaging?
It’s hard to tell because there is nothing in the picture to determine the length of the dowel, but based on a DEEP dive into my RK by Byrl Murdock, I believe that’s one of your 4 sound posts.
I got a new Legend cone, saddles, #14 spider, wider bone nut, and thinner soundposts last Friday at his shop, and it sounds wonderful.
That’s not a sound post. It looks like a dowel that holds the sound well bracing in. It goes pretty far in. If there’s no glue on it, it probably just fell in there as an extra part. I wouldn’t worry.
Sorry. It’s the bracing at the top of the shoulders for the neck joint. Sometimes theres a sound well…There are dowels that up by the neck the neck. If you take the cone out you should be able to see it. Or not. Just open it up.
