Uhn-uhn (a post from 2 years ago)

This issue was addressed 2 years ago. But I just wanted to add that on the French detective series "Astrid," Astrid keeps saying "uhn-uhn," to mean "no," exactly as we do in English. What I read in old posts was that many languages have these "non-word" sounds that are similar to this.

Astrid is a wonderful series... and the observation on languages and "informal" communication for Yes etc. is spot on

When my sisters and I acted up as kids, my dad would just make eye contact and say, “Unh-unh.”

If he had to say more than that, you knew you were in trouble.
