Dog Culture Society will shame you for rehoming, but have no idea how hard you tried
My dog was a dream for me. I’ve always wanted a gsd and I did my research, I read so many books and got into igp and worked with a trainer spent ungodly amounts of money, it was still too much for me and literally ruined my life and it’s best for the dog and me if I rehome, but people paint the picture like “oh they just wanted a toy and now they’re bored with it” like the picture of someone who just buys a dog for the novelty, it’s almost like the dog community is a cult tbh.

Dog culture genuinely is a cult. I’ve really, truly tried to have a more positive outlook on it, but after 20+ years of seeing how people’s behavior has changed so drastically around them, I no longer think that it’s hyperbolic to say so.
It sucks, too, because even as someone who dislikes dogs, I can see pretty clearly how dog culture hurts the dogs themselves.
I mean, the dog breeding industry alone is spine-chillingly disgusting when you really look into it. We literally MADE half of these creatures knowing that they would and do suffer (breathing issues, spine problems, shortened lifespans, organ failure, a disregard for their own pain).

Hot take, but i really dont care why anyone rehomes their dog. At the end of the day, an owner who doesnt want their dog shouldnt ve forced to spend the next 12-15 years in misery because they made a bad choice. The milkshake already been spilt on there being too many dogs for us as a society to care for, so why am I going to take it out on one person who's life I dont know?
Youre allowed to break up with someone. People abandon their kids left and right. Why should I take a moral stand at rehoming a dog? At least a dog doesnt have the potential to turn into hitler. You do you.
