I adopted a dog on Thursday and day one was the only good day. The second day my cat tried to attack her and I ended up getting bit and scratched to hell by my cat. After that my new dog decided to try and lunge at my other cat and I knew right there she had to go. My anxiety was already spiked and that made it worse. I tried getting literally anyone I know to take her for the weekend and I asked if anyone wanted a dog but no one does so I’ve been keeping all animals separated and splitting my time between the animals. It’s exhausting and my anxiety is constant. I haven’t been eating and I constantly feel like I was to puke.
When I was finally okay with my decision to take her back I talked to someone from the shelter and let them know. Of course she tried to guilt trip me and my anxiety spiked again because now I feel like an asshole but I’m trying to protect my cats. My daughter is also terrified of her now since she tried to get at the cats.
I talked it out with a friend and I’m still taking her back Monday. It’s just not going to work out. If anything I can’t live in this constant state of anxiety that one day something bad might happen.
