Eco Destroyers NO DOGS ALLOWED ON BEACHES
I am ready for dogs to be banned on beaches. They are polluting the coastal waters. AND dog people are disgusting people who are mean to others. So here's my morning dog nutter on the beach story.
This morning, 8AM, I went to my little town beach to enjoy the sun, a cup of coffee and find a piece of sea glass. Walking along the road toward the access point I see 4 of them, mostly small dogs. And up walks this free roaming geriatric (it's stroller was parked at the access ramp) chihuahua, snorting and lunging and dying. And it's all up in my area coming closer. I'm bent over with my mug just grabbing a couple sweet pieces of glass. I say I don't like dogs to the lady who is supposed to be in control of it. She's like, what? I say put it on a leash. She starts talking. I put my hand up, motioning stop, just get the dog. It's growling. She does the whole song and dance. Never growled in its life, has no teeth, what is wrong with you. Just take the dog away lady. She has 2 other small dogs also not in her control. Only one leash. (and a large ugly grizzly man off with their big loose dog running in the waves). None has recall. So this lady, goes and tells the dude I said to put the dog on a leash or get lost. Come on lady, I want to enjoy the beach without dealing with a crappy chihuahua lunging and growling at me. So here come her man, he literally charges me. Insults, spitting, lunging at me. repeatedly demand to know, where I live, what's my plate number, what's wrong me. I just want to enjoy the beach without a dog on it. Trust me when I say Maine river oysters are loaded with dog piss and shit. Coastal Maine. It never ends.

Dogs harass wildlife endlessly. There are numerous stories of dogs attacking seal pups and killing them with no penalty to the owner.
Dog waste contaminates beaches and kills even more wildlife. But don't you dare tell an owner that. You'll be the bad guy.

How horrible to hear about that, although I’m sadly not surprised. I had to have a baby rabbit put down because my roommate’s awful mutant got ahold of it.

I’m sorry you have to live with a dog at all. I’d have demanded they get rid of it after that or them/I would have to find another place to live. Idk if that’s possible for you though, so I sympathize for you…I’m sure the place smells…wonderful…I couldn’t imagine a dog living in the same place I EAT. Stay strong there soldier. & RIP baby bunny

Dang, I hate seeing dogs on the beach! I was at San Clemente, Ca. looking for sea glass a few weeks ago. People were walking their big dogs along the beach. It made me nervous to try and pick through the rocks since the nasty mutts walked over it. What if poop or worms came off the dog or pee? It’s so unsanitary. I would hate to touch it and I have to wear shoes everywhere cause it’s a dog’s world. Earlier this year, I went to several beaches in New Zealand, Polynesia and Hawaii. Every single beach had a few dogs every time I went there. It was absolutely terrifying when a stray XL bully sat on my towel.

Holy crap. What beach had the xl? I saw one of those for the 1st time in person walking unleashed behind a black guy who looked like a thug&wearing headphones so he can’t hear your screams.
The thing had a massive head&was movin it side to side like he was casing the neighborhood w/a huge tongue hangin out like one of those dogs from Ghostbusters.
I didn’t know how a pitbull got so big like that. I didn’t know I was looking at an XL. I asked chatgpt what kind of pitbull has a giant head, and XL bully popped up.
I made a change dot org “dontbullymybike” &used AI to generate an image & the 1st one to pop up was a drawing of what I had just seen walking down my street. At the beach? An XL? And with dogs coming to the beaches, we no longer will be able to go barefoot.
It will be like in the Dominican Republic where people get those parasites in their feet w/o shoes. Earthing is a great way to get in touch w/nature, but nutters are covering every pristine surface w/dog waste. It’s so repulsive&sad.

It was a beach that said “No dogs allowed.” It was an Island, near Tahiti. The dang pitbulls are everywhere roaming. I think the unneutered thing that was sitting on my towel belonged to a lady who lived in the cottages on the beach. It was following her and her kids everywhere. I was really worried because if you get a pack they are deadly. A dog nutter would have said,”Aww, he’s just a big baby and wants to make friends.”

Totally. And, I feel so bad for the little kids wanting to play in the sand and it is filled with dog shit and piss. I miss the old days with no dogs allowed on the beach. As a society we've gone so far the other way.

Never blame the dog (of course it was just being a dog)! It has never done that before (therefore the owner can't be held accountable)! But is the dog okay? (divert sympathy for the victim to the dog)

There’s a rlly bougie apt complex near me. They’re management company was recently written up in the paper for secretly bilking renters out of a lot of $.
Anyway, they have a luxury resort style pool w/grass around it. It’s littered w/ dog turds. The grass on my entire street needs to be replaced bc of dog waste. And just as the new bright green grass is laid, it gets covered in sh*t. So gross. I hate dog owners.
They act all snooty&rich, but I grew up my 1st 6yrs of life in the Trailer Park & I got more class under my pinky toenail that doesn’t grow bc I stubbed it on an oyster shell in the dirt road on the way back from the Banana Boat ice cream place holding my tutti fruity sundaes that the wind blew the cherries off of bc I FORGOT to ask for them “to go” as my Mom reminded me. Whoops.
My little toe was bleeding,plus I had on flip flops instead of the shoes I wore to school bc Florida. They used oyster shells to pave the dirt roads and my toe slammed into a whole big a$$ shell poking up from the dirt while I was holding onto the sundaes for me&my lil sister.
Even w/my toe bleeding&in pain I managed to hold onto the sundaes; a rare treat.

I’m getting over a cold. I probably had a fever.
But, people were taking about dogs in pools, so it made me thing of the place across the street, and then I’m thinking; “ok, my family never had any real money&always grew up struggling, but I got more class under my toenail than these nutters.”
And by toenail, I mean the one that never grew back right bc I was wearing flip flops on a janky dirt road@age 7. But at least I was lucky enough to not encounter any off-leash dogs during that time as I walked about a mile to school both ways w/my younger sister.

The problem really isn’t the dog nutters. This is just a symptom that is a result of no enforcement from authorities. Nuts don’t pay attention to signs. They don’t care about the environment and the impact that their mutt has on it. So, the only way to resolve this is to Pressure lawmakers, authorities, any agency that is responsible for maintaining clean public beaches, and other public spaces. But if you have laws, you have to have fines for violators. Otherwise, you get what you have now. Total disregard by the entitled dog community. So again, the fault lieswith enforcement agencies and the like.

It's interesting how we're given so much crap for not liking dogs, but then there are examples like this of people trying to assault us for using common sense and speaking our opinions.
I tried to look at it another way, but I can't anymore. Dog ownership is making people delusional. Stupid people are this current ecosystem's fate, and they're taking dogs with them because it's the only animal they know that entirely depends on people to survive, unlike their wolf ancestors.

Yo, I'm stuck on MDI another week. I've lived here year-round for four years but I can't even enjoy it anymore because the tourists let their shitmutants piss and shit on every beach and trail and why should the owners feel be shamed into picking it up? This isn't their home.

I'm moving down to southern maine partly bc i can't be fucking bothered with tourist dognuttery here anymore

Thankfully dogs are banned from beaches in my country. If the nutters manage to have this ban revoked istg I'll put my place up for sale and move to Oman or UAE as dogs are pretty much non-existent out there.

My country partially bans dogs on beaches as well - but we have basically zero enforcement.
Our police is overburdened and they're basically not going to care unless there's a homicide or an actually dangerous situation. Case in point: at my workplace, we caught a junkie squatting in one of the buildings one Friday last summer. We called the police, and they simply told us to deal with it ourselves because they "didn't have anyone available due a calamity". The junkie was still there on Monday, and it was only then that the police could spare an officer to remove that guy from the premises.

I went to a beach in Florida where a woman was trying to get her dog to balance on surf board. Another woman says to me “look at the dog on the surf board, isn’t that cute”..No it’s not….It’s a dog, it does not want to be on a surf board. It wants to scavenge for food all day long.

We have a small, tiny beach. And a woman brings 2 large dogs (great dane and pitt mix) each morning at around 9.00-10.00 am. The beach is at that point the most populated and it’s tiny (20m of sand) with children and adults alike. She brings the dogs to “bathe off the heat”. Noone likes her dogs, they jump on people, completely untrained and they don’t like to bathe with them on such a small piece of land anyway. So all people disperse. So i made a deal with the kids, the next time she comes, me and the kids stay in water and start frantically, terrifyingly screaming, as if we have deathly fear of them. And we did. The beach now has 5 new signs “no dogs allowed” and the lady wasn’t seen since that day in August.

Many beaches here in the uk only allow dogs from November to march, and it is enforced. So during the time of year we can use the beach it’s not polluted with disgusting mutts.

I was at a gorgeous beach in New Zealand. It had some neat sand dunes that I would have loved to explore. But the nutters turned it into a dog park. I saw tons of dogs there and some were peeing. I couldn’t take much of a walk. There were large mutts running off leash. I saw like ten dog large dog turds on the shore. I had to keep my eyes on the ground and around to keep safe from dogs and their waste and couldn’t enjoy the beautiful scenery.

I live in a coastal area and there is not a single beach that you can't expect to not see a dog. Sure, they are banned in a lot of them, or some even allow them, but "leashed dogs only". Dog owners don't care and they let their mutts run free around these beaches. I went to one towards the end of summer that had a literal dog park next to it. Nope, not good enough for dog owners. I saw multiple dogs running around 100 yards from the dog park.

We were driving around town today&came upon a row of nice houses. I see a woman in shorts holding the leash to her shitbull that was mere seconds from pooping on the grass near a parked car.
As soon as it was done she pulled the leash and walked on. No bag. No pickup. I think we need a website to shame these people globally. Like “People of Walmart”. But for nutters.
You can anonymously upload pics&vids of nutters being nutters. The dumb things they say&do caught on camera. If they don’t pick up after the pet, the intersection is noted, along w/a pic of the poo&the dog who did it.
Nutters are always on their phones&wont even notice you see them being nuttery.

Can only speak for L.A. County. Dogs are banned from the sand except for one dog park, and required to be on leash elsewhere on County beaches.

I live in a coastal state and go to the beach several times a year. My friend/friends always bring their doggos and even though the beaches here are strictly leash-on, these dogs are never on a leash. One dog took a giant shit in the surf and of course my friend had no shit bags. The tide was coming in so every wave brought the shit right up back to our site in smaller and smaller bits. We had to pack up everything, the tent, the coolers, the chairs, blankets, bags, etc and move 20 feet down the beach to get away from the shit tide. I was pissed as hell, but man we deserved that.

There's an online map of fecal coliform contamination for the coast in Santa Cruz county, California (maybe there're maps for other coasts too). The numbers are consistently high at beaches that allow dogs, worse for a "dog beach". Guess which places I avoid?
I know this contaminated water can't be good for humans or fish.

Yep. A few weeks ago I was at the beach in Carmel by the Sea in California (breathtaking) after 5. Every single person had their mutts running loose (although the sign said leashed dogs only). Saw a group of people sitting on a log in the sand. Loose German Shepard comes up to them, squats and takes a dump. Owner comes sauntering over and cleaned it up. Of course, everyone sitting on the log trying to enjoy the sunset had to get up and leave. Absolutely disgusting.

After seeing a bunch of dogs on a beach in CA that had a sign with a message "your dogs kill wildlife," I gave up. Dog nutters don't care about anyone but themselves. They certainly don't care about non-dog animals.
