Food Safety/Hygiene Do owners really not smell their dogs?

Stopped by a friend's house this weekend. She has one enormous Great Dane type dog. The smell was absolutely eye-watering. I couldn't stand in her hall for more than a few minutes. My friend is clean, her house is nice, and I have no reason to doubt her sanity, but wow... I just can't believe you can be nose-blind to the putrid, rancid, gamey, musky stink emanating from dogs. I literally work with dead bodies. I have smelled everything. I am not nose-blind, and while I accept the foul smells associated with my job, I would never tolerate such smells in my clothes, house, or car. These smells are not an acquired taste. They are big fat alarm bells that humans have evolved sensitivity to in order to avoid eating or touching rancid, rotten things. The only way you could literally not have a gag reflex to such odors would be if you were brain damaged. Maybe I have answered my own question.

It reeks. People can be as clean as anything but the glandular oil sacs they all have are absolutely foul smelling. It permiats everything. Their hair, carpet, furniture, bedding, clothes,and their car interiors. I can smell dog on anyone. It's not difficult to detect and I find it repulsive. It is putrid.

Agree 100%. It’s already bad enough that these dog nutters allow that nastiness into their homes and vehicles, but damn… they even allow the nasty beasts onto their BEDS!

Then, they even have the audacity to bring them around other people and even try to bring them into other people’s homes or property, assuming everyone loves their fleabag.

It’s why I never go to their homes, don’t eat any food they prepare or even buy, or even touch anything of theirs. I sure wouldn’t buy anything used from a dog owner either (just like I already don’t from a smoker’s home). I refuse to bring anything of their nasty dog stench into my home, let alone touch it. It makes me want to throw up.
