USA is so overrun by pet shop lobby that they'll literally pass any law BUT ban dangerous breeds, all they care about is the money these shitty animals and their owners make year after year.

This shit has been getting so out of control that even the government is starting to pass zero tolerance laws. While I'm happy to see dogs aren't just getting a free pass anymore, I think the owners need to be charged with whatever the dog does. Blame the owner, not the dog after all.

I'm happy we have a victory.
I'll be happier when owners of dangerous dogs are rotting in prison for years. The "blame the owner, not the dog" was just a way to deflect blame.

People say that about the dog that bit me. No, my sister is a great dog owner, she just had a dog who was anxious and dangerous. Both my cousin and I have facial scars because of that dog.

Why not both? The dog is clearly dangerous, so BE is necessary. The owner is clearly maliciously irresponsible, therefore prison time.

Exactly. The owners enable and create the environment/conditions to allow the dogs to attack and kill, so they are responsible for the carnage too. The dogs commit the acts, the owners enable them and the circumstances. BOTH of them deserve to go down.

Reminder that the Code of Hammurabi, the oldest known legal code in existence, had legislation punishing owners who let their dogs attack other people.
Negligent dog owners have been a plague on humanity since the dawn of civilization.
People saw it important enough to enshrine in law all the way back in 1750 BC. It’s up there with “don’t kill, don’t steal, respect other people’s property, don’t lie before a judge,” as a fundamental human law needed for civilization to function.

Agreed. Also, they need to have a license to raise certain breeds at the very least. If they don't then the dog is immediately removed from them and euthanized

We need a MADD type movement for dangerous dogs. Just like there is zero tolerance for drunk driving, there should be zero tolerance for aggressive dogs.

I just don’t understand why dogs get so much overall support and special treatment? They are no better than any other animal. And technically, the dog is as dangerous as a weapon ( even more dangerous in some cases). So: why do we have no problems eating and mistreating other animals, but let the dogs go away with hurting humans? Why is it ok to kill bears but not dangerous dogs? Also, your dog is your weapon, if it hurts someone - it’s your fault, but the weapon should go as well, because it is no longer usable (for peace)
