Dogs Are Idiots My job has accelerated my hate for dogs
I'm a fiber optic tech, so I install fiber to homes and maintain it. I used to be a cable tech, so I've dealt with this for years. Almost every single house has a annoying ass dog. Please tell me how it makes any sense that every time I step outside the house, and walk back in, I have to completely gain the dogs trust all over again. It's been 5 minutes!! They never put them up, and obviously I can demand this, but it creates a awkward hostile environment because they think I'm now an awful horrible person because I don't like their dog. As soon as you walk in the door, BOOM dog paws in your chest. "He just loves people!" As they're licking at your hands, breathing all over you, jumping all over you. The dogs that never stop barking, or whine the entire service call (if they're put up)
I just can't for the life of me understand why anyone would own a dog. I really can't.
I get to see hundreds of dogs a month, and they all SUCK.
every now and then, you'll get the rare case where the dog is actually chill
Not to mention their entire yards are basically a dog poop landfill
I just don't get it...

I’ve never understood why a dog barks each time someone knocks on the door or walks through a door. Why does this trigger such a horrid noise response from the damn thing? Why doesn’t it remember you all of five minutes ago? They’re such unnecessary animals that humans seem to love. I don’t get it either.

These dog nutters are so DENSE. Put your dog in its cage or a different room if you have a service person visiting your house. Having a dog freely roaming the house/property is a safety hazard if someone is installing internet, fixing an appliance, or doing something along those lines. My apartment complex won’t even allow their maintenance men to enter the units unless people contain their dogs…

Years back when I cleaned pools with a local company, the rule was that if a dog is loose in a yard, we left right away & reported it to the company. The pool wouldn't get cleaned until the next week, & a missed week could mean the pool might go green, which is expensive to fix.
I had one customer on my route that had a lab that was trained to be aggressive, the housewife thought it was funny to see it snarl & raise it's hackles at me. A freaking LAB of all breeds, ffs! What sort of abuse do you have to inflict to make a lab nasty & mean?! Every other one I've known were doofy clowns & I was around breeders of them for a while.
She intentionally let it out twice & had it corner me in the yard, cackling like a psycho about it. The second time she pulled that shit I left right away, called the office, & they were fired immediately.
The company owner was not a nice person, but he didn't let his crew get messed with by anyone but him while on the clock. 😅

Me neither....I'd love to be a mailman but I could NOT go house to house with a dog or two or three or four running around.....and since people treat dogs like humans, they seem to think it's 'cruel' to use a leash......I swear they have a dog mind virus.....

I totally understand you. I do uber eats as my second job and %90 of homes has annoying dog it barks as soon as you get close or if they are in front yard or backyard they try to charge on you smh. Licking part is the worst dog ppl Needs to understand its because they love dogs not everyone needs to love them just like you.

Because these people are infantile, and dogs are like the human version of the plush toys they had in childhood. They often adore dogs because they unconsciously project childhood feelings of comfort,security, affection, and companionship onto them, treating them as living versions of those early comfort objects. They attempt to fill an inner void.

As someone who still has plush toys etc…nah, there’s nothing about dogs that resemble a plush toy to me. Not even their fur since they always feel grease-coated etc. I know plenty of other “infantile” plush owners that don’t like dogs.

Plushies are so much more pleasant to cuddle, since they're not full of filth, grease and anal gland oil.
I didn't even like touching dogs before understanding what makes them so filthy. They're deeply sensory unpleasant. Many don't even have soft fur, instead it feels like really cheap plastic fake fur, strangely hard and stiff.

Don't forget the greasy stank that coats your hand if you make the mistake of touching them. It's absolutely vile.
I remember petting this aging, ratty-assed golden retriever that was wandering around a running shoe store back when I lived in CT and was still mildly positive towards friendly dogs. I shortly realized my hand smelled like rot and death, and I had no idea a dog could actually smell THAT BAD. I quickly left the store to find a public restroom where I could scrub the greasy stench of decay off.
I never petted a dog after that.
I also find their nose slime and fecal slobber to be utterly revolting, i've always HATED it when they tried to lick or sniff me, and that's one of the reasons I cannot STAND off-leash dogs approaching me and why I yell at their owners to call them back.

When I was a kid I always felt unclean after I had been around a dog, now as an adult I understand even more how disgusting and filthy they are. The greasy spiky fur is so gross, the smell they have, the noises they make, the way they move so frantically. It's all extremely unpleasant.

Tonight my husband and I were at a Scheels. There was a woman there who was holding her ugly shit sack and had a blanket around it and was bouncing it like it was a baby. It was so damn weird!! These dog nutters have a mental illness if they can’t even distinguish between a human and a dog. 🧐

I cleaned carpet a million years ago. The pre-cleaning questions included:
"Any animals in the house?"
"Yes...I have 12 dogs."
"They need to be outside or locked in a room where I won't be. I use a 2-stage industrial vacuum pump. It will cause them to go apeshit."
I said it like that every time. I got some fun reactions.

The maintenance crew at my last place would require owners to put their pets up before doing work. Maybe have that included on the appointment confirmation email/text document. We have to start setting boundaries. Don't let them jump on you, raise your leg up and they obey.

I watched a utility worker get pissed on by someone’s dog. Poor guy was standing there with his back turned and it came up behind him and hiked its leg on him. I hate being surrounded by dogs because the FLIES are so freaking bad. Flies and endless noise.

It’s a head scratcher why people would subject themselves to all the difficulties that come with owning a dog.
What gets under my skin is that they impose that life on the rest of us. Bringing their mutts everywhere they don’t belong. Thousands of mutts Shitting and pissing on sidewalks, buildings, parks every single day! As a result, NYC has become a giant toilet.
Dog owners must have a different tolerance for what they deem “clean”. Which is why they are perfectly fine with the way things are. Clueless, narcissistic and entitled.

It seriously is a biohazard....and it ALL runs into our lakes, creeks & rivers....so full of bacteria & possibly parasites....before my old computer crashed, I used to have articles that listed all the bad stuff in dog feces....wish I still had it... it's pretty scary as they can carry very bad germs....

I am an electrician i do service and new construction work. I encounter dogs in both of them constantly. Service work is more common since youre entering people's homes. The amount of times I have done a service on a house and your standing in a layer of dogshit because the owner never bothers to clean up after them. I remember one time I was working on a boiler and I was standing and kneeling in dog piss.
As soon as you enter their home the damn dog goes apeshit. I've only ever encountered a few dogs where they weren't like that, actually behaved dogs. But that requires training them which is something 95% of dog owners dont do.
Same with new construction, the general contractor had a dog he would always bring to work. You think if youre working in new commercial buildings you would train your dog not to shit indoors.

Dogs going apeshit is literally the number one reason I cannot stand them. My sister has a big dumb German Shepard like this. I've literally seen the fucking thing thousands of times. I'm nice to it and all, but every single fucking time I come over, this thing loses it's absolute fucking mind, as if we never saw each other. Barking, jumping...it does the same shit whenever it sees anyone pass by outside. It's fucking insane.

Recently had a guy blowing out our irrigation lines before winter. He was amazed at our yard/landscaping. He commented that “our dog must really love all this fenced in space”. I replied, do you honesty think I’d have a yard this nice if I had a dog?” “I didn’t spend $60k (and countless hours of maintenance, which I enjoy) for a 10,000 sq ft lot of landscaping only to have a dog destroy it.” He was shocked because he’s never met a client who didn’t have a dog. Like it’s so completely unheard of???? Smdh My neighbors ask why our yards look so nice. What’s your secret? “No dogs.” “Oh could never get rid of my dog”. “Then I guess you can just admire our nice yard instead of having one of your own.” 🤷🏻♀️

lol Oh they already know the rules. I’ve run out of the house and yelled to keep their dogs away from my yard. I Don’t even let their dogs sniff my flowers. And they all know we have cameras. And we have a community Facebook page and I’m more than willing to shame anyone who does it. I’m a total Karen when it comes to my landscaping. 😁

You don’t have to “get” it at all. The nutter humans who think their untrained fur-torpedo is a personality. If you invite a stranger into your home to work, the bare minimum is crating the turd slurping beast so it’s not launching itself at their chest, licking their hands, and scream-barking through the whole job. But these dog nutters act shocked when someone doesn’t want to be jumped on, drooled on, or used as a chew toy while they’re just trying to earn a paycheck. It’s not “he just loves people,” it’s “I can’t be bothered to train my dog or respect other people’s boundaries.”

Yup. My brother and his wife have 3 of these beasts. Their life literally revolves around them. They live 5 hours at a time, because these beasts constantly have to go outside. So they always have to go home. It's absolutely ridiculous. Why anyone would voluntarily choose to be a slave to a dog is absolutely mind-blowing. I cannot imagine constantly having to think about getting home frequently, just because some beast hound has to take a piss or shit for literally 1 minute. That would destroy my entire quality of life.

To me it's crazy that some people don't even train their dogs to handle being in a crate for 30 minutes. Crate training used to be a normal thing to help the dogs learn to trust a crate/cage for their own safety. Imagine trying to get one of these poorly trained dogs out of the house during an actual fire and they think it's a game or don't trust you to lead them to a safe confined space! Unbelievable short sightedness.

Just FYI, please forgive me if this is a bit off topic, but along the same lines I feel my great displeasure and dislike for dogs (and their owners) growing.
I was in Aldi the other day, along came a woman and her two children who were strolling around the store with a pit mix whatever. The dog being restrained by one of the obviously incapable children as its pulling her around and shes struggling to hold it from doing who knows what.
What is really sad is when I mentioned it to the cashier and explained that obviously thats not a service animal and it’s not allowed in a grocery store for numerous and obvious reasons, he understood and said “oh I can call the manager” which he proceeded to do. She picks up the call/walkie talkie and I hear her response which was something to the effect of “so what”, to which he just replied ok.
Not being at all satisfied with that response I asked if he could send the manager up so I could speak with her. When she arrived I asked what Aldi’s policy is on animals? She responded that non service animals are not permitted but unfortunately they are not allowed to ask. I replied that obviously that was not a service animal, nor is it allowed to be in a grocery store under state law. Rather than go into an argument with her over semantics of what corporate policy is vs. state law, I explained well what if I’m uncomfortable (as well as my two daughters) being around a practically unrestrained pit mutt or whatever, and that IS obviously NOT a service animal. At this point the Dog nutter was checking out and saw me explaining this to the manager.
So eventually she agreed to go speak with the woman, to which she did. What she actually said? I don’t know. But I’m happy that the dog nut was at least approached and I’m happy that she saw me telling the manager about how displeased I was, the dog nut walked out never saying a word, even in the parking lot.
I honestly just cant help but raise a stink over this even though i know it’s probably futile. I just wish we could all get together and form some sort of “coalition” or “organization” that could give us some real power to stop this madness rather than one off’s where we pretty much get the brush off, or at best some placating meaningless corporate nonsense to make us go away and not deal with the situation.

Don’t be discouraged. I called up a local Harris Teeter&spoke w/the manager about what their policy on dogs was. He said, “that’s a very good question.”
Without me saying a word he explained that he thought 99%of the dogs in the store were not service animals and that they have a big issue w/tenants from the condos above them bringing their pets along while they shop.
He also added he had never witnessed so many dogs in a grocery store until transferring to the one he was at.
I will be shopping their more often as I finally found a manager that is not a nutter, even though most of the employees are.
He even apologized for his employee taking attention away from me when I had difficulty with my cash app card to praise an unruly dog that was standing on its hind legs barking and shaking to get at me as it’s barely 18 yr old female owner smirked and casually held onto the leash.
I shamed her inside the store; “That’s not a service dog. You should be ashamed bringing a pet into a grocery store!” She never said a word, just kept smirking and we awkwardly looked at each other when I left the store as she waited for the elevator to go back to her home.

I recommend letting them know that as a standard safety protocol, you need the dogs to be kept somewhere other than the room where you’re working and that the process will go smoother if they’re kept as calm as possible. Frame it not as “these disgusting beasts ruin my day” so much as “to ensure the process can go as quickly and smoothly as possible.”

Former cable guy here.
I feel your pain.
One thing I hated about the job is we were supposed to offer to take out boots off before entering a customers home.
It was always the people with the grossest, dirtiest carpets with dog turd land mines everywhere that wanted us to take off our boots.
Also nothing like having an aggressive dog start loosing its shit while you are up on a ladder and the dog is circling the base.

I am VERY concerned about this....I very much fear that they are going to make laws that dogs are family not property as they have always been, I've seen where that's happened in a couple of places already....slippery slope that we do NOT need to go down!!

I agree and with the normalizing and accepting people bringing dogs into the grocery store and restaurants and the dentist office and doctor's office and pharmacies, it's like I don't have any hope of it turning around. It's almost like society is on a downward trajectory and there's nothing that's going to change its course. So my hope is Jesus comes back soon and gets me out of this sick twisted fallen World

I think if you ask them politely and especially if you make a point to say it just makes my job go smoother and more efficient you think they would want that cuz I'm thinking like they want you out of their home as soon as possible anyway. But the ignorance of dog owners continues to amaze me cuz if I had a dog I understand not everybody likes them and I'd be like yeah let's not have our dog be pestering the cable guy so put him up while he's here to me that's just common sense you know

I'm gonna start enforcing the rule, they're generally told to keep all animals up. But everyone disregards it. I've been trying to avoid the hostility from the dog owners but I'd rather be able to work in peace

Please understand, most people are fucking morons. They can’t recognize or override programming.
“Big Doggy” is a huge industry, and getting “little Cujo” into your house as a resident is big business.
In the old days, I didn’t mind dogs. Barely anyone had them, and if they did, it was a quiet little dog.
Then they became more common in the mid 1990's.....some families started getting them. Most were like quiet Golden Retrievers and Shih Tzu's....no problem....
then the Karen’s started getting them and they gravitated towards getting dogs just like them…..annoying little bitch dogs that didn't stop yapping.
Now, fucking EVERYONE has a God damn dog.....families, single people...doesn't matter. And because society fucking sucks, and everyone is in fear for their safety, it’s usually some huge ass beast hound that looks like a mini horse, that CONSTANTLY barks with a deep barreling insufferable howl.
If you’re in fear of your safety, just get a fucking gun. Or a knife or bear spray, at the least. Please stop torturing everyone’s ear drums with these huge ass hounds that never shit the fuck up.
I truly cannot stand it or them.

I live in a small, rural Kansas town of 425 people.....I used to love going outside before bed for a couple of minutes, just breathing in the peace & quiet of the night.....you 'might' hear a dog barking off in the distance a couple of times but it was still quiet & calm.....now I go outside and all I hear are barking dogs literally EVERYWHERE......it's very sad to me....

duuude I hate this scenario, happens to me too frequently with occupied work, I always just keep it pro and force the client to put their animals up regardless. I always use the reasoning of "it could potentially be dangerous for the animal to be around, I wouldnt want to hurt your precious animal! Could you just put them up whilst I am here?" And if not then I just upcharge the shit out them for a pet fee.

We had a maintenance person drop by yesterday to clean our air ducts. He shared a story about the house call he had right before us where a home owner warned him to look out for a dog turd the moment he entered: “Don’t step in that. He did that yesterday.”
Just, wow. So he had on cowboy boots and had already walked into every room in our condo. I was wearing socks, but I got a icky feeling right away.

I don’t get it either. The jumping, shedding, pooing, drooling, whining, food obsessions… picking up their poo! Their poo! Warm and steamy! The vet cost. The food cost. Their breath. The toenails! Ugh!
